Wild Markets Lead to Ferengi Making Killing on Market

The Ferengi government cleared a profit of around 8 million credits in the fast fiscal year. The rapid rise and then fall of Anti-matter played in their favor. Ore prices however continue to remain elevated.

The market now stands as follows.

1 Million Tons of Anti-Matter: 7,576
100,000 Tons of Industrial Ore: 13,183

Rumors of hording abound in regards to the anti-matter market which is driving prices lower still. Some governments are rumored to be sitting on hundreds of millions of tons of reserves, which if dumped in the market have the potential to totally collapse the market. Governments sitting on large stockpiles will find millions of credits worth of wealth wiped out if that occurs.

Klingons, Breen in rapid military modernization

While details are sketchy defense analyst estimate that the Klingons and Breen have jumped ahead in the galactic arms race by virtue of large scale modernization programs. While the exact nature of the programs are not known the large expenditures to complete them could hardly have been missed by those who track government funds in the region.

Klingon Economy on Verge of Collapse After Massive Military Expansion

Efforts to hide the extent of the military spending and the fiscal hole it created went for not as regional economist picked up many warning signs on the potential depth of the Klingon Empire's economic problems.

"Reports on anti-matter production and consumption levels coming out of the empire show they have been engaged in massive industrial expenditures. Large amounts of debt have been taken on by the empire but it is now suspected that the population is effectively tapped out with estimates of Klingon debt ranging from 75% to 150% of the GDP. The people are heavily taxed so there is not a lot of give there."

This has worried neighboring powers on a number of levels. It is obvious that the Klingons have over the past 15-years built an unmatched war machine. The question now on most minds is what will they choose to do with it now that they are staring fiscal ruin in the face if they do not alter their spending levels.

Ore Prices Drop, Anti-Matter Prices Steady

The widespread adoption of conversion techniques using replicators has caused ore prices to drop by nearly 50% over the last five years. This increased production by most major powers has been paralleled by the major private producers who are looking to make a profit. Not thought to be a long term solution to the problem it has solved short term supply needs in the region.

Ore price per 100,000 tons- 8,948
AM price per 1 million tons- 7,334

Powers look to expansion for first time in post Dominon War Era

Powers are looking to expand their borders and add colonies for the first time since the end of the Dominion War. With military strength being largely restored and financial houses mostly in order many major powers are now looking to expand their borders for the first time in nearly two decades. Colonization groups have been formed in all the major democratic powers and are suspected to be on the table for more reclusive powers as well.

Federation, Gorn and Klingon Market's show signs of weakening

Economist are projecting lean growth years in terms of per capita GDP in both Federation and Gorn territory. While they say that nothing systemically is wrong their proximity and exposure to the Klingon economic problems as well as a generally cyclical market is expected to wipe out much of the growth for the coming years in those two powers.

Klingon economic problems are more dire and systemic. There is little money left over for investment or personal spending and infrastructure is generally crumbling as a result. The Klingon swoon could be much longer and more pronounced than those of its neighboring powers.
