Staplic SIM Sign-up

Post by Lt. Staplic »

Okay everyone, after weeks of working with BIG to learn the set-up and goings on, I'm going to be starting a second SIM game. This will be starting around the same time as the other one, 2380. However, don't expect it to go the same way, as those in the current game can attest to the amount of freedom you have in the game will lead to quite a different game.

I'd first off like to impose the rule that anyone in the current SIM CANNOT play this one also. This is for two reasons: #1 Neither myself, nor BIG want the issues from one SIM bleeding over into another, #2 We want to give as many players as possible the chance to play. If we don't fill every power, then we may allow original players to take on the minor powers.

Here's how the sign-up will work:

Post you want in and your top 2 choices of power

At first the powers able to be signed up for:

Federation
Cardassian Union
Romulan Empire
Klingon Empire
Breen Confederacy

Once those 5 are full we will do:
Ferangi Alliance
Gorn
Tholian Assembly
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I'm interested in playing, but it depends on what I need to be able to do it.

If it turns out I'm able to do it then my top choices are

1: Cardassian
2: Klingon

You'll be handed a spreadsheet, which is largely automated via a huge set of formulae so you simply have to enter a fairly small list of figures around spending, ship deployment, RnD etc.

if you like, I don't think Big will mind if you have an older one of mine. Unless its changed a lot between games.

Excel and word. I don't know if it will format properly in open office.

The newest Open Office has seemed to handle it fairly well for me.

The way the game is run is every 'turn' or week you will receive a spreadsheet (microsoft excel) and a sitrep (microsoft word) that will give you the information about what is happening within your own power. The spreadsheet is able to be changed by the player to modify internal workings. Things like: assigning ships to a fleet, deciding how many ships to build, how much fortification to put in a system, etc.

the other part of the game is the part you can see already. Any IC interactions between powers happens on the forum. either publicly in the IC thread or privately through the PM's (all IC PM's MUST be cc'd to the GM)

So far we've got:
Codan1993
Nickswitz (leaving the other SIM for this one)

I will take the UFP by preference. If not them then the Romulans.

I only have one problem, and that's that this coming friday I'll be without the internet for 2 weeks, coming back 28th/29th august.

I can't imagine anything really gets going before then. Players will need at least 2 weeks or so to set themselves up.

I will take the Romulans, they seem difficult but interesting according to what Stitch has said to me.

Oh bloody hell. Cardassians and Romulans taken?

I'm interested but if those two are out I'm not picky.

If they players from the second sim follow those of us from the first and start using their game races for AVs, things are gonna get confusing. LOL.

Yeah... they should use symbols instead of persons... Minus stitch who still doesn't have a Romulan for his avatar.
