And exo-armor makes for a poor man's close assault unit.

Hey, while I'm here, anybody ever play "Inquisitor?" I don't have the time, patience, skill, or cash to start building full-scale armies, so this sounded interesting... and you can download the rules FOR FREE from GW.

On that note, anybody heard anything about the mercenary rip-off called "Warhammer 40k Roleplay?" From what I understand, release of the first edition was pushed back to February '08, and will go for $50 US. Afterwards, if you want to continue to grow and expand your plots, characters, whatnot, you HAVE to buy each of the two subsequent editions/expansions, also for $50 a pop.

Another way in which GWS will suck me dry of my money! :x

I played Inquisitor ages ago, I must get back to it again...

Though I haven't heard anything about this Roleplay thing.

I think the first step was due out already, but got pushed back to Feb '08, and my guess is that the mechanics work similarly to Warhammer Fantasy RP. That idea of two further $50 editions if you want to keep going on really irked me, though.

PS - If everyone agrees to a point limit for starting characters, or some common-sense justification, what's to stop anyone from playing "Inquisitor" as an RPG rather than strictly tableop?

Um, nothing?
Seriously, any of the games can be turned into and RPG-esque game with some tweaking.

True enough though some of the stores over here already do that.

Nowhere else to put this, and I didn't think it waranted it's own thread, so:
From the Black Library:
10/12/2007 : New Titles Announced!
The more observant of you out there will notice that we have updated the Coming Soon pages all to way out to January 2009! It's an absolutely cracking period with some awesome highlights, the return of some old favourites and hopefully some welcome surprises too. Here's a summary of just some of the headlines:

* Titanicus by Dan Abnett (Oct 0 - the Gaunt's Ghosts and Horus Rising author turns his attention to the Titans, the vast mechanical war machines, in an epic new novel.
* Elfslayer by Nathan Long (Oct) - Gotrek & Felix continue their quest to thwart the powers of Chaos and the conniving Skaven in their latest blood-drenched adventure.
* Cain's Last Stand by Sandy Mitchell (Nov) - is this the end for the wily Commissar Cain? Not if he has any say in it, that's for sure!
* Horus Heresy: Mechanicum by Graham McNeill (Dec) - the action moves to Mars, as the servants of the Machine God must decide where their loyalties truly lie.
* Dark Disciple by Anthony Reynolds (Dec) - the Chaos Marines return in this sequel to our runaway hit of '07, Dark Apostle.
* Time of Legends: Malekith by Gav Thorpe (Jan 09) - the third strand of the Warhammer series, following our Sigmar and Nagash titles, moves the focus to the ancient Elf legend of the Sundering.
Whoo! New Cain novel! And the words 'Abnett' and 'Titans' just make me giddy, and a new Horus Heresy book will be nice, too.

It is through pain that we love the God-Emperor as the crack of His lash is proof of His love as a heavy handed father to us all.

God loves the God-Emperor!

Mmmmm... Titans... is there anything they can't do?

BTW, jsut finished Warrior Coven by C.S. Goto - I decided to give him another chance. Much better - if you like the Deathwatch, Eldar, or Dark Eldar, it's a pretty good read.

Hmm, I might give it a try. Perhaps Goto can earn back some respect.
