No, it's removed at certain points anyways (5 and ten years IIRC).

Yeah, didn't mean it quite like that.

The Clans of BT use artificial wombs so you could work that into here. The breeding programs of the Clans are VERY strict. Very fitting for the use of the SM. Hell, you could even work that whole thing into your chapter if you wanted.

I got ya. ;)

I'm going to go with if a boy is inducted into the Chapter then his immediate family can sign on as "Thralls" (for lack of a better word).

The Death Guard, White Scars, Ultramarines and Space Wolves all use Housecarls. So, it seems fitting.

Yeah, the fluff is pretty inconstant with what their called (the SW novels call the Free Men or something), hard to remember it all.

So updated OoB:

I'm concentrating on the individual squads at the moment, I intend to flesh out the First Company later on. I'm not sure if I want to make it the training and logistics unit or have that separate at this point.

So an example of a Demi-Company:

Demi-Company Alpha (DC's will be designated Alpha though to Tango)

Squad 1

-Sgt w/power fist & bolt pistol
-Apothecary w/bolt pistol &close combat weapon
-Heavy Weapons w/plasma gun
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon

Squad 2
-Sgt w/power fist & bolt pistol
-Apothecary w/bolt pistol &close combat weapon
-Heavy Weapons w/melta gun
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon

Squad 3
-Sgt w/power fist & bolt pistol
-Apothecary w/bolt pistol &close combat weapon
-Heavy Weapons w/flamer
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon
-Brother w/bolter & close combat weapon

Squads 4-6 repeat as above. Squad 7 gets a missile launcher.

Scout Squad (8)

Sgt w/bolt pistol close combat weapon
Brother w/bolter & CCW
Brother w/shotgun & CCW
Brother w/sniper rifle & CCW
Brother w/shotgun & CCW
Brother w/sniper rifle & CCW
Brother w/bolter & CCW
Brother w/bolter & CCW

^ The idea here is that the shotgun equipped Scouts will cover the Snipers, who are tasked with sniping and long range surveillance. The Sgt and a Scout will act as a fireteam and the same with the other two bolter armed Scouts.

Each Squad gets a Razorback (either w/lascannons or heavy bolters) and the Scouts get a Rhino.

Being a SAR themed Chapter I want them in and out fast, hence the Rhinos and Razorbacks. I also want them to have relatively heavy firepower so they don't get bogged down, they'll be travelling light though so they won't be equipped for a protracted fight. So I'm thing a regular Brother in a line squad my get either a grenade launcher or a combi-weapon with one.

I might also go with two Rhinos for the Scouts, or one Rhino and two bikes so the extracted actually have something to ride out in.

I like that you have an Apothecary in every squad. Makes sense for a SAR chapter to have a very high number of Apothecaries in their ranks. I'd also expect a very low count of Chaplains and a very large fleet of small ships.

I might fold the Chaplains in with the Apothecaries, I'm not sure yet. I was never really sold on them in the first place.

I'm thinking a large number of Gladius frigates (one per DC basically) with some Strike Cruisers and a Battlebarge held in reserve, though the thought of a wandering Battlebarge recruiting Ice World natives appeals to me as well.

That could work. The Ghost Bears in BT have Oath Masters that act in much the same fashion as Chaplains in 40k. They had only one per Galaxy (or every 475 warriors, nearly half a chapter). They had a medic in every Star (squad) and operated in large scale hit and run attacks.

They also had one of the largest reserve forces out of any of the clans short of Clan Wolf and Clan Smoke Jaguar. You could use this to explain your Non-Codex chapter. Your chapter's active forces are independent of your central command. So while your 1,000 SMs are off fighting, no really you couldn't have several hundred or several thousand "recruits".

That makes a lot of sense for Ghost Bears.

Based on the Scars' philosophy and this chapter's stated one, I'd mix in a helathy dose of land Speeders of different varieties as well.

With such a lightly armed force. I'm guessing your First Company is going to be Heavy rated to the ton right?
