Japanese scientists say, 'Let them eat Shit.'

1) Where would we be without the Japanese? What a strange and wonderful people.

2) It's a step closer to Enterprise's "protein re-sequencers!"

3) On a technical level it's not a bad idea.

I'd eat it. After all, everything we eat and drink has already been on this planet in one form or another for the last few billion years. This is just speeding up and streamlining the process from waste to food that already happens naturally.

Now whether I'd buy it would depend on it's price and flavor compared to real meat, but it wouldn't gross me out.

I try everything once. But the concept is weird to me.

I am sure ARAs are all about this though like PeTA.

Yeah, in theory you're all right. TBH, though, I'm pretty sure that as I raise a crapburger to my lips, my brain would begin reminding me, "You know that's shit, right?"

The food you eat, the water you drink, the air you breathe - these things have all been part of another animal not once but many times. You're already eating recycled poop, so if that doesn't bother you I don't see why this would.

You are absolutely correct. That doesn't change the fact that I don't for one second believe that any one of us would be able to let that intellectual analysis override his visceral reaction at the idea of literally eating shit.

At least you'll know where a bad taste comes from if you eat it, because it 'indeed will taste like shit.'

Is it bad I instantly thought of the Human Centipede when I read this?

Bad? No, it just means that you haven't been exposed to the same media as some of the rest of us.

Ah the innocence of youth. In other news the article seems to indicate that it's not reconstituted shit but using the bacteria in it. Which is marginally better than dying crap.

I need an image of someone facepalming with, "Damn it Japan" on it.

You do realize, I hope, that when you're discussing anything remotely like using shit to make food, that the above point is splitting a very fine hair, right?
