If you're going for killing power, then I'd take the Tompson.

Yes but it has horrible balance and can't fit a 100 round drum feed.

Balance aside, it does look controlable (at least on youtube vids.).

The problem is that what looks like small issue on video is in fact a much larger issue in person. Balance of the weapon is important as it makes it easier to correct matters of aim and recoil.

Clocktower sniper was taken out with a shot gun.

Sorry, off topic.

Alright, lets jump to the other end of the personal firearms range, sniper rifles. Just how big of a round is needed? I know a .50 cal sniper is a beast of a gun, and anything living that gets hit by one won't be living for long, but is it perhaps overkill? Do you really want to be lugging around a gun that big and heavy? Is there a perhap a smaller sized gun for the job?

Well what's your goal? Long range, anti-personnel, anti-material? For most applications something in the 0.308 to .338 range seems to be the most popular as it's more than enough bullet to kill someone with enough mass and velocity to get to a good range. The big guns like the .50s are more for extreme range or if you're shooting inanimate objects.

Depends on what you want to do with it as Tyyr suggests. Ultimately it's the man behind the scope that is the deciding factor, which means a .22 could be just as deadly as a .50 BMG.

Am I the only one who noticed it says Warefare, not warfare... That bothers me a lil, just cuz I'm weird.

No, I noticed too and refrained from a snarky comment. The new Barret round is a real eye opener, .416, stays super sonic longer than the .50 caliber.
