Well, this one seems pretty obvious to me; spores are the most logical method of reproduction for a fungal species.

The spore/parasite option, while interesting, relies on the presence of a suitable host.

And, I don't really want to think about a couple of mushrooms getting it on, so that option is out.

There are some funny points in the novels about the xenomorphs farming smaller animals until large enough for use.

We have species which reproduce the same way, requiring a parasitic host to contain/nourish the juvenile offspring - certain flies and wasps come to mind, although I'm sure there are others. The xenomorph system is FUBAR because those things could potentially have to wait a VERY long time before encountering a potential host.

Do xenomorphs have their own homeworld? I never was really into Aliens so I know very little about them.
