Flight 666 to Hel(sinki) lands safely at 13:00, Friday 13th

Not mentioned: the pilot broke a mirror while walking under a ladder as a black cat crossed before the flight... or not. How would I know that?

What's wrong with 13:00? I get the 666, Hel although that's a reach. Friday the 13th I've heard of but what's the 4th?

The number 13 by itself is considered by many unlucky in whatever form it appears. It's a 13 year old plane too, so there could be as many as five 'curses' there.

That's all nonsense of course. Now, if the pilot had abducted Liam Neeson's daughter, things wouldn't have gone as well...

OK, but I don't think there's anything about the time 1pm. Too few people think of it as 13:00 for it to be a thing.

The 13 think is far from unique. For example all the Chinese/Japanese like countries think the number 4 is bad luck, rather than 13, as it sound just like the worth for death. It's so bad that companies will often not have a fourth floor in their buildings. They wont release version 4 of a product, or will name it some other way to avoid it. Much like our 13.

IDK about the UK or the Continent, but over here it's rare (if possible at all) to find a hotel with a 13th floor. It's a Christian tradition to consider the number 13 bad luck, stemming from the fact that pre-Christian Jewish gematria holds the number 13 in a positive regard.

Personally, I think the whole business reeks of the Discordian Law of Fives.

To be completely fair, it's still a common superstitious tradition among Jews to alter the amount of a monetary gift to an amount concluding with, or a multiple of, the number 18.

So a sneaky Jew might give a gift of $234 (13 x 18). I wonder how the balance of luck is supposed to work out there. :?

Usually we don't get quite that intricate - if the occasion called for $200, for example, we'd give $218. In gematria, the Hebrew word for "life" totals 18.

For the far east the number 4 is bad, as explained, but the number 8 is highly lucky again because it sounds like another word, this time the word for "prosper" or "wealth". For example:
the bidder who recently paid 18.1 million Hong Kong dollars, or $2.3 million in U.S. money, for an “auspicious” license plate bearing the number 28. That sounds like a wildly exorbitant amount of money (and it is), but the thinking is rather simple. In Cantonese, “28” sounds similar to the words for “easy” and “to prosper,” so the number is thought to bring good fortune to its owner.

I guess you never saw that meme then. It's a joke because there are a shit ton of gullible dumb people out there that would believe it without engaging the brain.
