Discovery Channel To Show Man Being Eaten Alive by Anaconda

In a bizarre bid for TV ratings, the Discovery Channel has announced an upcoming special Eaten Alive, in which a wildlife filmmaker in a "snake-proof" suit will supposedly crawl inside a live anaconda. Uh...does the anaconda get a say in this?

Paul Rosolie has agreed to dive into a snake's maw for the sake of television glory. That's all well and good, but will this stunt of his harm the snake? The very concept reeks of animal exploitation; after all, there are less invasive ways to look inside an anaconda's digestive tract. There's very little info on the Discovery website about the particulars (some folks initially hoped this was a hoax, but some promotional information does appear on the channel's website), although a teaser for the special suggests that it has already been filmed.
I think I'll watch because I want to see what a "snake-proof" suit looks like. When he starts lubing himself up, I'll take off TV.

Smithsonian Channel did the "Titanaboa" show, but they were just talking about fossils that they found.

I don't think those things grow big enough to swallow a human. I know some of them are big enough to eat a dog or even children but an adult?

The ongoing war between snake and gator in Florida shows that they do attempt to swallow gators but end up killing itself when it splits open.

An anaconda can on very rare occasions grow to about 25 - 30 feet, but I refuse to believe that even a 30-foot anaconda could swallow an adult human.

It is a problem with the shoulders. Most of their prey transition rather smoothly from head to neck to body. A full grown Anaconda would have no issues at all with the human head. But when they get to the shoulders they would have issues. The stretch to get around the torso would be difficult for even the biggest snake, but the transition makes it impossible. Most large Anaconda now are about 20+ feet. Snakes approaching 25 feet are rare as hens teeth. There used to be 30 footers to be found but they are all now belts or stuffed somewhere.

Unless he's actually climbing inside a Sarlacc I think they might just have made up some bull.
