Would neighbouring nations by sea-borders count?

Hard to say.
The American King James Bible wrote:Both your slaves, and your bondmaids, which you shall have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall you buy slaves and bondmaids. (Lev 25:44)

Heathens... so we have to buy them from people who don't believe in the One God? Well that's just a shame...

I think not - my wife's reaction would likely resemble that of a wookiee losing at chess.

Fear not! That's only the King James translation. A direct modern translation from the Hebrew texts reads, "You can have [other, different]* male or female slaves. These are the male and female slaves that you buy from the nations around you. You can also buy [them, such] from the resident aliens who live among you, and from their families that are born in your land. (Leviticus 25:44 - 45)

* - Leviticus 25:39 - 43 refer to fair treatment of non-aliens indentured for debt.

Leviticus is rather interesting for its time in that it spoke on the treatment and purchase of slaves and servants. However I am fully against giving up pork... not going to happen.

Interestingly enough, I choose not to live without any of the above - bacon, pancetta, pork chops, ham, sausage, etc.

I'd have starved to death by now if I couldn't have pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches. Of course, mileage may vary outside of Jersey.

Oh yeah I forgot about Pork Roll. The only time I get it is when I am in NJ visiting my parents. Technically I can get it in VA though.
