Hate to be the downer... but maybe a child?
There are similar packets in beef jerkey and other similar food products. There can been occassions where I have put one in my mouth when not looking.
Ah, aha. I think mayhaps this warning should stay, then.

On the label for Preparation H it says "Do Not Eat This". Wouldn't you love to read the letter that prompted that warning? "Dear Prep. H: I ate this whole tube, and I still have these damned hemorrhoids. But I can whistle really good now."

Maybe it came with a question about how to take a suppository: "Well, what am I supposed to do - shove 'em up my ass or something?"

Not exactly on topic, but this kind of thing (legal issue) is why TV ads for any medicine spend about five times longer taking about horrifying potential side effects than the benefits of the drug. I've always wondered how that's supposed to work as an advertising method!

The only thing of which those ads convince me is that the FCC should never have relented and allowed pharmaceuticals to advertise commercially.

Yeah pretty much. Taking the medicine seems to give you more problems than what you were taking it for.

I wonder if those commercials actually work.

Someone succesfully sued McDonalds because they burned themselves on Coffee and the Cup didn't have a heat warning on it.

That was years ago, and has since become a high-water mark of how idiocy prevails over common sense.

Well to be honest, on both sides of that little issue. If I were the one who got burned and saw a way of easy money I probably would have sued. If I was McDs and other fast food joints, I wouldn't want to be sued every time someone spilled their coffee every time they hit a pothole.

The judge should have just told them not to be stupid and sent them out.

Probably. I don't remember how it went down. I may look it up later.
