Star Wars: Episode VII

Post by Teaos »

So with all the rumors and speculation going around, we actually have only had very few things confirmed.

There will be three new movies.

Its just been confirmed that the new movies will be set 30 years after ROTJ

It is planned to be about three new young leaders with appearances from some of the old crowd.

Confirmed R2D2 will be in it but no word on C3PO.

They have approached multiple actors but havent confirmed anyone.

The expanded universe will either have no role in it, or a little influence.

There's going to be lens flares in Star Wars.

The EU is such a mess they can't follow it. Also a lot of it would make for very poor movie making. At most they will rip a few elements. But I honestly see them just starting from scratch.

Also, I really wish JJ wasnt incharge, I loath his attitude towards sci-fi.

It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time.

Star Wars: Episode VII will release in theaters on December 18, 2015.

It's not JJ I am worried about but the Disney influence. When they bought LucasFilm, the announcement by the upper management was really focused on the toys aspect of the franchise. I feel that if JJ wants to do something risky, he won't be able to if it affects the toy lines. It's why in the EU, only Chewbacca has died out of the original characters. The children of the main characters die. Luke's wife dies. But the major toys don't. I still think he is a great action director, so the movie won't be boring.

I'm not worried about Disney to much, they have a strong history of making movie franchises grow and thrive through good story telling.

They made such an investment in this they have to pull off multiple good movies.

I'm half 'this will suck' and half 'I'm not really invested in the franchise much anymore'. If it's good, then I'll be happy. If it's bad, I won't get bent out of shape over it.

My money is on it being like the Star Trek reboot. Enjoyable and forgettable.

A 'popcorn' movie? I am leaning to agree, there.

Abrams is supposed to be a big Star Wars fan, whereas he was never into Star Trek. He'll probably put a lot of nostalgia and feeling into this. Along with the action he does so well. What will Star Wars be like with lens flare? Will Tattooine be the only planet without lens flare? Will we be blinded on Hoth?

It will be fast paced too without characters having a chance to slow down for a second. The story will make no sense either.

New sort of light saber. We had normal, double ended... if they carry on the dildo comparison the next one will vibrate and have a simulator on it.
