Your Lightsaber

Post by Mark »

So, you are suddenly a Jedi, Dark Jedi, or Sith and need to build your lightsaber. You have all the building materials needed to construct whatever weapon you want. Describe your lightsaber of choice.

I'd of course be a Jedi. I'd construct two lightsabers.

1. A full sized one for my main hand with a black blade, with a safety to deactivate the blade if I'm disarmed.
2. A short weapon for my off hand with a purple blade, with a blade lock to be thrown if needed, and an option to extend the blade to full size if needed.

What would you make?
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

A Jedi, with a guard around the emitter. Standard length for the thing, methinks. Oh, and it'd be waterproof.

I was fooling around with this idea a long time ago for an RPG char. If we are considering all of SW canon, here's what I came up with (for a Jedi, albeit one perhaps more gray than most.) It would be for practitioner of Form V, practiced in both shien and djem so:

The crystal would be a Krayt dragon pearl, giving the blade a pearlescent color, with a lens of stygium crystal adding a pale violet tint. The emitter would be flush-mounted with a double blade shroud. A back-up power cell would be included in the pommel, and it would use a bifurcating whatever-the-hell which is the circuitry to allow the blade to be ignited underwater (you never know.) I had thought of the idea of a dual-phase lightsaber, but even ones that aren't dual-phase still have a blade length adjustment.

Can I just duct tape mine to the underside of a blaster muzzle?

Ever since reading about Exar Kun, I liked the idea of a dual-bladed lightsaber, or saber staff, made all the more popular by Ep. 1, so I'd make mine like that, except with citrine (orange) blades, with the ability to decouple to become 2 lightsabers, for better use in close quarters or if I only need one, or if one malfunctions.

I would be well trained in telekinesis, so the off/on switch would be inside the hilt so only I could turn it off and on as I decide.

The hilt would be camouflage colored, and the blade would have a dimmer switch, so as to not spook the Rancors while I'm huntin' Sith.

With lightsaber fighting "disarmed" takes on a whole new meaning...

So in one page we went from make your own lightsaber to make your own jedi to make your own jedi joke. I think that's a record even for us.
