Oh, yeah. I do love how they took Wedge-a cameo in the OT-and fleshed him out so well.

A cameo, yes, but quite a prominent cameo. And as "Wraith Squadron" points out, as the only pilot to survive both DS runs, Wedge is probably the best non-Force-using pilot in the Galaxy.
