It didn't.

Exactly.

Wait... holiday special? Bah, that's daft! They'd never make something so stupid-sounding! Come on, now. :P

Still not sure how we had Christmas a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

IIRC, that one is indeed canon.

Oh yes, and the Ewoks learned how to speak English as well.

What about the old "Droids" cartoon starring R2D2 and C3P0?

Well, the kid from the movie, Cindel Towani, grew up to be a reporter and had a cameo in the Black Fleet Crisis. The cartoons, I believe, are canon as well.

Methinks at least with the cartoon, it was simply translation for ease. They were speaking their native language, we just heard the translation.

If they have christmas in Star Wars, I always imagined what the christmas party on a Star Destroyer must be like. Do you invite Darth Vader to come? I mean if you don't invite him he might kill you for being rude... but if you do, and he actually came, it would be kind of a mood kill to have him standing off in the corner, watching everyone while he went hissssssss.... wheeze.... hisssssss.... wheeze.....
Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...

Isn't Vader the Jesus of the Star Wars universe? Immaculate conception, performs miracles, died and then ressurected - and finds peoples lack of faith distrbing. You'd have to invite a guy to his own birthday party surely.
"You ain't gonna get off down the trail a mile or two, and go missing your wife or something, like our last cook done, are you?"
