Ships of the Week: Scythe-class Cruiser and Pellaeon-class

...Star Destroyer.

This is the Galactic Alliance Remnant's main battle cruiser. What are your thoughts? Personally, I think its one of the best ships designed and it fits the 100 years after TUF well. Love the design that allows the maximum amount of firepower to go on the target, but it keeps its maneuverability and speed. Plus its Mon Calamari design, so it'd have heavy shields. But what are your thoughts.

Another Legacy design, this time from the Galactic Empire/Krayt's Empire/Roan Fel's Empire in Exile. What are your thoughts? Its like the ultimate Star Destroyer, but I'd like to see more weapons on the size using the triangle shape more. And it's not that maneuverable. But what about you?

The Scythe Class is an amazing ship. Less overall fire power then the MC90 and about equal to the ISD but... unlike both, everything they have is facing forward. As seen, when built in numbers. These ships have the ability to focus their fire and over come opponents greater then themselves alone and do so quickly. The only problem these ships have is their fire arc is totally forward with little defensive ability elsewhere. However, there is an advantage to this as it forces commanders to be extra aggressive as retreat is a greater risk then just punching through. There really isn't anything you could do for this ship to improve it. It is as good as it can be without having to build a whole new class.

9 out of 10
+Great fire power and focus
+Cost effective
+Great combat endurance
-poor flank and rear fire

The Pellaeon Class to me is just about average. Its an up to date ISD2. However, due to its place in the time line, I see it as a failure. It's totally out classed by the Nebula Class, and easily over taken by a pair of Scythe Class. While noted for its impressive shields and improved forward fire arc, to me its just not enough. I see this class as a great start but by no means a good final project.

6 out of 10
+Nice to see a smaller crew
+Nice to see updated systems
+Improved fire arc over its formers
-Poor overall fire for her size
-To expensive
-Ineffective against its primary enemy

The Scythe class looks pretty good.

The Pellaeon class looks god-awful.

I gotta ask. Considering the CF9, what is up with Legacy-era ships having huge flanges on the front??? :? :?:

Sorry.......neither of these ships are sparking enough either way to go much beyond that. Just two more ships to add to an already existing plethora of SW ships, that we will never actually "see" in action.

Gotta agree with Mark, here. One of the missed opportunities of SW is putting stuff on the small screen. Ewoks/Droids cartoons and the new CW notwithstanding. They wanted to do a YJK series back in the mid-90's. Good lord, what a missed opportunity there!

That would have done spectacularly. My boy is obsessed with Star Wars. He'd go nuts for something like that.

I would've watched it and bought the DVDs when they eventually came out, guaranteed.

Maybe he'll enjoy the live action series, if it ever appears.
