Wild guess: There are more than 3 million clones. It would have required a lot more than routine retcon.

So I guess someone in charge finally said, "Ok, your stupidity has to stop," so she got pissed and took her ball and went home.

Re: Traviss quits.
The Fandalorians are coming out in droves on boards.theforce.net. Let me show you some of their stupidity:
Malachi108:
Malachi108:
Darth_Zandalor:I'm nohestly can't understand why people hate Karen Traviss and her fiction. I've real all of her SW books and I absolutely loved all of them. They are the finest example of what serious, adult-orientiered SW fiction can be, the only other examples being Stover's and Karpyshyn's novels. I will definitely miss both her books that would now never be written and her continuity, that made the character of Fett shine like never before, and would now be overwritten. And yes, I will definitely read both Imperial Commando novels with a definitely new sense now - the one of grief and sorrow.
And I really with Lucas would stop making new Star Wars stories overnight! If it was just Filoni and Co, Chee simply wouldn't let that happen, no harm done. The old man receives his share of money from every book, comic, video game and toy sold - yet he doesn't even try to show it some respect. Star Wars merchandize would bring him one percent of the current amount of money without the EU, but he chooses to ignore it completely. Bad news, Mrs. Traviss, very sad to hear that.
No, because then you bring down the combined weight of the conformist society!
At least Traviss's novels broke from the trend and tried something new. She should be praised for that, but instead, she is ridiculed, tarred and feathered, then run out of town for not portraying jedi the right way

Re: Traviss quits.
He probably suggested in the politest terms possible that IHHO Traviss' numbers didn't quite add up. Unfortunately Poe's history of the original clusterfuck is gone now, but the SW board mods (one "Dark Moose" in particular) eventually banned any discussion of the numbers on grounds of "author bashing" regardless of the fact that the only "bashing" that had taken place had be faultlessly polite.
