How would you disprove the 3 million number?
How would you disprove the 3 million number?
Say you're given the rights to write a book during the clone wars. How would you ruin the number or would you simply let bygones be bygones?
I would try to mention say 3.1 million clones that invaded a word. Just throw 3.1 million out there that way it doesn't upset the minimalists too much but at the same time ruins the 3 million number. A little light I know. But I don't think going into detail about how stupid a 3 million man army is would be a good idea.

How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Re: How would you disprove the 3 million number?
I completely ignore the idiotic number and procede to write my own numbers. With tens of millions of clones invading a single planet, millions of warships clashing across the galaxy, countless quintillions of soldiers on both sides, etc.

There are more inhabited planets in the SW galaxy than that. The end.

The Open Circle Fleet was split into five groups of a thousand ships each. 5000 Venator class SDs - at 7400 crew each + 2000 troops.
That comes to 47 million clones for just the forces under Obi-Wan. Thats the logical way.
Karen Traviss is a fucking retard. Thats the simple way.

I mean like how would you write it in a book. Would you make a point to disprove her math or would you work it into the dialogue or how?Deepcrush wrote:The Open Circle Fleet was split into five groups of a thousand ships each. 5000 Venator class SDs - at 7400 crew each + 2000 troops.

I would just point out that the accountant (a Travissian) made a typo when he listed the clone army as being 3 million troops in his books, then have that race exterminated.

Or just throw out an offhand comment about how some idiot journalist wrote a somewhat inaccurate article for a magazine about the GAR. Hell, it wouldn't be that difficult to turn the entire fiasco into an IU story.

That won't really fix the 3 million issue. It will serve as a warning to future writers though.Deepcrush wrote:Can't we just shoot her?

I wouldn't waste my time writing it in the first place. I'm not an effective fiction writer.

Just ignore it.
Hell, if you really need to disprove it simply go with Seafort's suggestion.

Re: How would you disprove the 3 million number?
On a fun note, I just remembered that Saxton calculated that the average TradeFed Lucrehulk vessel could carry 200 million battledroids. Just point that out in a book, and the 3 million clones number becomes even more ridiculous. Unless you want to argue that the CIS couldn't fill a single ship with troops.
