I'd use this as a chance to REALLY build up the NR fleet. Have the World Devs turn out MC90's and X-wing fighters. All under droid control. Then start swarming the YV.

Re: You Crush the Yuuzhan Vong
I was watching episode one a couple nights ago (my boy loves Star Wars/lightsabers and for me Natalie Portman isn't hard to look at) and when the battledroids were in the palace fighting off the force trying to get to the Trade Federation leaders they actually did pretty well in terms of their fighting. The droidekars also proved to be just about impossible to deal with as well for your average light infantry. You've also got super battledroids from Episode 2 and depending on how you feel about the Clone Wars cartoon advanced battledroids that are tougher, smarter, and more skilled than standard battledroids. Given their capabilities versus non-Jedi/non-hero characters I'd have to say that a battledroid army isn't a bad one.

Aye, can you imagine just having a World Devastator churn out legions of Droidekas and sending them at the YV? Something tells me their wankistaffs aren't going to get through that.

Why is it that no one in the future seems to remember artillery?

Because the human race seems to have lost some serious IQ points?

Umm.... they have artillery. LOTS OF IT! The Empire used it to great effect as long as there weren't any hero characters around. The NR seems too shy from it because of the damage that it can cause.

Video games have them. And most those video games are mostly canon. Just happens we never see them on film *shrug*Tyyr wrote:Why is it that no one in the future seems to remember artillery?

Re: You Crush the Yuuzhan Vong
It was said a new understanding of the Force was required to defeat the Vong...
to which I call fuckingbullshit. What was needed was the ability to stand their ground and fight. Losing Coruscant with half the fleet in orbit while the Vong had lost a third of their own attack fleet? Whatthefuc?????? The NRDF was so effin' handicapped it went beyond suspension of disbelief into surreal into... bullshit. Utter. Bullshit.
The NJO... a senseless murder of trees.

You put a blaster bolt in their brainpans they die. Fuck the Force.
Re: You Crush the Yuuzhan Vong
They should have had more carnage caused by Anor and his friends like viruses unleashed or what not and increased the number of Vong by a shit load. One species would have a very hard time taking over a Galaxy.

Re: You Crush the Yuuzhan Vong
If Nom Anor had actualy done anything of real threat to the NR prior to the invasion then it'd at least be somewhat more credible. As it was, his grand achievement consisted of getting two planets to fight each other. Whoop de fucking doo, I'm sure that certainly crippled the galaxy-spanning New Republic.

But remember the NR has to send every ship around to save every person on said planet. Even if it means loosing several other systems.

Re: You Crush the Yuuzhan Vong
Well, one species could do it, if they had overwhelming numbers. (cough) Tyranids (/cough)Monroe wrote:They should have had more carnage caused by Anor and his friends like viruses unleashed or what not and increased the number of Vong by a s**t load. As to Nom Anor, yeah, he should have been hinted at before, causing problems all around the galaxy, stirring up treachery, trouble, and civil wars. The readers would first hear of a person that killed, but was not picked up on metal detectors. As time goes by, weird biological problems pop up, in different areas, for different races, but all seem to have the same pattern. So the characters never seem to put them together, but the readers will soon see that there is someone causing all these problems.
After several books, the readers finally manage to shut down an Imperial bioresearch station that has samples of the bioagents there. Everyone is dead, and the protective sheaths are decayed (apparently past their shelf life, or due to sabotage). Everyone is happy that they finalyl stopped the bioagent threat, etc.
The truth - Nom Anor is immune to the agent, and he is the one that swapped out the filters, letting the doctors die. He then deliberately sloppily hacked the computer, so it self-erased in defense. As a result, the Imperial research into the antidote of the bioagent is lost. And the Imperials believe the NR did it to prevent them from finding the antidote.
