So, you finally figured it out. Took you fools long enough to figure out. Three down, two to go. You'll never stop that Breen fleet.

The crew watched in shocked horror as Mark seemed to double in size. Before anyone could react the Founder had grabbed Nick by the neck and hurled him across the mess hall. Reliant drew his phaser and snapped off a quick shot, but his haste threw his aim off, sending the beam wide of its mark. Before he could so much as try to fire again, Mark slammed a fist into the young man's stomach, sending him sprawling to the ground, gasping for air and trying not to vomit.

"Hey!" Tsu yelled, trying to distract the Founder's attention from his fallen comrade. It was only when Mark began to charge across the mess hall at him that he realised he was unarmed. Mark slammed into Tsu like a truck, slamming the man into the wall. Tsu slumped to the ground, fighting off unconciousness.

Stitch drew his phaser and fired off two quick shots, barely missing the creature, the heat from the beams making Mark howl in pain. Before Stitch could correct his aim, Mark grabbed one of the chairs scattered around the hall and hurled it at the man. Stitch tried to dive out of the way, but the chair clipped him and knocked him to the floor, his phaser skidding across the hall.

By now Reliant and Nick had scrambled back to their feet, and both began firing off rapid shots at the Founder, though their nerves threw their aim off, seeming to hit everything but the massive creature.
Rapidly, Mark changed form yet again. Nick and Reliant's both paused in their firing for a brief moment at the sight of the creature's new form. It was a small, vaguely humanoid form, its elongated and eyeless head raising to look at them. Its lipless mouth opened wide to issue forth a blood-chilling howl, displaying an array of razor sharp teeth. Its long arms ended in vicious claws, and a barbed tail lashed back and forth behind it.

With a shriek it hurtled across the mess hall, nimbly hopping over chairs and diving under tables as it rushed straight at Reliant. Nick began firing off shots at the monster, but they all went wide. Reliant, seeing the creature going straight for him and remembering Bob's bloody and brutal end, turned and tried to flee, but he was nowhere near fast enough. Mark slammed into him from behind, sending the crewman flying violently into a table, which broke in two under the force of the impact.

Tsu staggered back to his feet, searching blearily for a weapon. Nick continued firing at Mark, who had now spun around and begun charging at Stitch, who was scrabbling around on all fours for his phaser. He grabbed it and spun around, firing off a quick shot as Mark leapt at him. The shot missed the airborne Founder, and sent Nick diving for cover as it missed him by just a few inches. Mark slammed into Stitch, sending them both sprawling across the ground.

Stitch tried to get back to his feet, but Mark pounced on top of him, pinning him to the ground. Before Stitch could react, the Founder grasped his neck in its claws and began throttling the life out of him. Stitch tried to pry the hands off of his neck, but the alien was too strong. Mark bent his head down, preparing to tear Stitch's throat out with his teeth, but Stitch grabbed the Founder by the throat, barely managing to keep its jaws away from him.

Tsu raised his phaser to fire, but Nick shoved his arm aside.

"Don't!" He yelled. "You'll kill Stitch, too!" He explained, and began running across the room towards the pair, already knowing he wouldn't get there in time.

Stitch's vision began to blur, the world seeming to dim around him. As the strength began to ebb from his arms, Mark began forcing his jaws slowly down towards his victim's throat. Realising he was about to die, Stitch turned his head away from the sight of the Founder's maw, not wishing to witness his own death.

Then he saw it.
Half a metre away from him was a phaser.

With his last ounce of strength, Stitch shoved Mark's head sharply upwards as he let go and grabbed the phaser with his left hand. Feeling Stitch let go of him, Mark howled triumphantly and lunged at his victim's throat. Stitch saw this, and knew he had no hope of grabbing the phaser, aiming it and firing before the Fonder tore his throat out violently. So he did the only thing he could, and shoved the phaser pistol into Mark's wide open maw.

Mark bit down in surprise, feeling plastic and metal crunch within his mouth. Before he realised what had happened, a loud, piercing warning tone began to blare out from the shattered phaser, signalling an imminent overload. In shock, Mark lept back, letting Stitch go and clawing at his mouth.

"EVERYONE DOWN!" Stitch yelled hoarsely as he gasped for air, rolling under a nearby table. Nick and Tsu, not seeing what had happened, took his advice, diving to the ground. Reliant, still burried under pieces of table, was in a sense pre-ducked.

Mark, senior Founder of the espionage mission and personal executioner of Captain Rochey and Ensign Bob, had just succeeded in tearing the weapon out of his mouth when it detonated violently, killing him and blowing a hole straight through the floor and into the deck below.

Tsu, Nick and Reliant, who had been freed by the blast, staggered back to their feet, sweeping their phasers around the room, ready to fire at the slightest movement. But their caution was unnecessary, as Mark had been utterly oblitterated by the explosion.

Content in the knowledge that he had saved his fellow crewmen, Stitch slumped to the ground and sank into a long, dreamless sleep.

Tsu jerked awake, his hand instantly darting towards his phaser. He looked blearily around the darkened mess hall, searching for any nearby threat. He wasn't sure what had woken him up, but he wasn't about to take chances. There was still another Founder around somewhere.

He stood up slowly, his phaser held out in front of him and the thin sheet he had been using to keep warm falling to the floor. Squinting, he tried to make out the interior of the wrecked mess hall. The survivors had already been woken once during the night when Nick had fallen through the hole in the deck that Mark's death had created when he was on patrol, which had resulted in much cursing from the exhausted crewmen and the creation of a makeshift barricade of chairs around the hole.

Tsu walked carefully over to the hole, trying to make as little noise as possible, and looked down into it. It was difficult to see anything in the dim light, but he was pretty certain there was nobody down there. With a shrug, he yawned and wandered back to the corner he had been sleeping in.

When he got back, he knelt down, picked up his sheet and set his phaser on the ground beside him so it was within easy reach. Just in case. In his exhausted state, it took him a few moments longer than it should have to realise that in addition to the sheet he held in his hand, there was a second one on the ground next to him. He looked at it calmly for a moment, and then realisation dawned on him.

"Shit!" He yelled, jumping up and scrambling backwards just seconds before the sheet morphed into some bizzare wolf-like creature. Snarling, the Founder pounced at him, knocking him on his back, its weight pinning him down. Tsu flailed wildly under it, hitting it and trying to push its jaws away from him with little success.

Suddenly, the mess hall was lit up as a pair of phaser beams lanced across the room towards the Founder, missing it by inches but forcing it to jump backwards and release Tsu from its grip. Tsu jumped back to his feet and rushed away from the alien. Turning his head, he could see Stitch on the other side of the room, crouched with a phaser in hand, calmly firing off rounds at the Founder.

The shape-shifter wasn't going to go down easily, though. It spun and lept agilely, weaving almost effortlessly past the bright beams. With a howl, it began rushing towards Stitch. As Tsu watched, it sprouted more legs and jumped up, latching onto the cieling and scurrying along it towards Stitch with freakish spider-like movements.

To Tsu's surprise, Stitch didn't even seem phased by his inability to hit the creature. He remained where he was, calmly firing off more shots at the oncoming Founder. When it was just a few metres from him, it pounced, claws held out and teeth barred.

Stitch was ready for it. The moment it lept, he dove forward, rolling under the creature and jumping back to his feet as soon as he had gotten behind it, firing off more shots. The Founder roared in frustration, spinning around and jumping at Stitch again. This time it hit him square on.

The Founder slammed into Stitch, knocking him to the ground and sending the phaser flying across the room. Knowing he had only seconds to act, Stitch brought his legs up under the Founder and kicked hard, sending it flying over his head.

Stitch jumped back to his feet and looked around wildly for his phaser, spotting it next to a chair just as the Founder had scrambled back to its many feet. They both jumped at the same time, Stitch leaping for his phaser, and the Founder leaping at him. The human managed to hit his target just seconds before the Founder managed to hit its.

Stitch hit the ground, grabbing the phaser and rolling over just as the Founder landed on top of him, forcing the air out of his lungs. It raised a claw, preparing to tear Stitch's throat apart, but the human fired off an expertly aimed shot, hitting the wrist of the descending apendage, shattering it violently.

With a howl of pain, the Founder jumped back up, scrambling away from Stitch. The human followed it, firing off another shot. The Founder ducked under the beam and swung another claw at Stitch.

This time, his luck ran out.

The claw caught Stitch in the side of the head, raking along his face, tearing his left cheek to shreds and fracturing his skull. The human dropped to the ground unconcious, blood pouring from his head and face.

With a triumphant snarl, it raised a hooved foot, preparing to crush the human's skull, when suddenly another phaser beam passed by him, followed rapidly by another. The rest of the crew, woken by the comotion and joined by Tsu, who had only just retrieved his phaser, began firing wildly at the Founder, but with no success. Seeing it had no chance of winning, the Founder dove into the hole in the centre of the mess hall, sending the chairs arranged around it flying.

Tsu watched it go for a second, and then hurried over to Stitch's unconscious form. Checking his pulse, he was stunned to see his rescuer was still alive.

"Someone get me a med pack!" He yelled. "Now!"

In the confusion that followed, nobody noticed the Founder calmly returning to the scene and resuming its human form yet again.

*takes medkit, and trains phaser on Reliant*

He attacked in the middle of the night. Nice try Reliant; you almost killed us.

My tests revealed Nick to be human, and since Stitch is clearly the security officer, that only leaves you, Reliant. I assume you killed my friend before you took his place, right? You'll pay for that, I assure you.

*sets phaser to higher level*

Nick, what's your vote? Stitch needs help fast if he's to live, so think quickly, please.

Looks like the vote is unanimous. This ends now...
