Stats/Information on the new Enterprise

Post by SuperSaiyaMan12 »

Information on the new Enterprise:

Name: USS Enterprise
Class: Constitution-class
Construction Site: Starfleet Division, San Francisco Ship Yards
Designer: W. Matt Jefferies
Crew size: 1100
Mass: 495,000 tonnes
Length: 914 meters (3000 feet)
Saucer Diameter/Width: 333.3 meters (1100 feet)
Height: 189.4 meters (625 feet)
Maximum Warp (old scale until we know otherwise): Warp 8

Don't know the weapon configuration yet, that'll probably be released soon. This is from the Enterprise Tour thing on the trek website.

Those sizes... I'm unconvinced.

The guy who did the CGI for the nEnterprise stated it's 3000 feet long, making it 914 metres long. I'll take his word over a website that's probably been made by people who're not involved in the ship's design any day.

Cool site, but the fact is that what we see in the film itself is canon. Those numbers aren't. If the guys involved in making the movie say that they made the nEnterprise 3000 feet long, then that's what it is.

Let's just say I'll need more than anyone's say so to believe figures like that.

And that virtual tour thing crashed my entire computer dead like a stone. Not going there again.

It made mine run about as fast as a river made of superglue. Interesting, but pretty damn annoying.

Fixed.

It seems like they're lobbing new stats in with old. Matt Jeferies designed the original Enterprise, not this one. This one is loosely based on the original.

nEnterprise was built in Kirk's hometown, NOT San Francisco like the original timeline Enterprise.

What I want to know, it what the hell they built a water slide in the middle of engineering for!!!!

That SOOO reminded me of that bit in Galaxy Quest.

Yes, LOL

Maybe they were trying to 'legitimize' it by including it in Trek?

What argues against huge size for me is this : the edge of the saucer still only has two decks int it. Now the original Ent had two decks there, and that ship was about 1000 feet long. Scale it up threefold and that saucer edge should accommodate SIX decks.

Now I freely admit the proportions may be off which could cost a deck or two... but from six to two? The saucer rim doesn't look that much thinner in proportion, to me.

I also did a little scaling off the shot we see of the ship being built in the trailer. You can see guys working on it to scale by. I admit I've only been very rough on this... but it doesn't look anything like that big to me.

I dunno. Maybe it is that big; the interiors certainly argue in that direction. But it just doesn't look it to me.

It looks bigger than the old Enterprise certainly, but I'm with Graham on this one. I don't see it being THAT much bigger.

On to the speed...........don't I remember them saying something to the effect of pushing it to warp 4? Is that considered "fast"? Or did I hear that wrong?
