Uratha-vei species

Status : Ariel Council species

Vital Statistics (100% = average Human male) :

Height : body - 50 cm tentacles - 100cm to 200c,
Strength : 42-58 %
Lifespan : 110 standard years
Mass : 36kg
Endurance : 62 - 76 %
Visual Sensitivity : 110 %
Aural Range : 3 Hz - 28 kHz
Visual Resolution : 1120 %
Aural Sensitivity : 168 %

Uratha-vei skin is generally of a salmon pink colouration, but the tentacles vary their colours dependent on their mood. Generally a blue tint indicates calmness, a yellow tint indicates annoyance, red indicates anger, pink indicates passion or love, green indicates alertness or awareness and grey indicates some form of illness. The body consists of the main body, and the multiple independent tentacles of which number anything from 30-130. Not all are shown in the diagram. They evolved on a world where the gravity was considerably lower than most other species, to the point where they could quite freely fly using small expulsions of gas, stored within the body, out of the end of specialized tentacles to provide a one time thrust. then on, they drifted until they themselves halted their flight. About 30% of these tentacles are the air-thrust subgroup, 50% are standard manipulator tentacles, 10 % are mood tentacles (that changed colour dependent on mood and the last 10% are feeder tentacles, that are capable of penetrating skin or carcass, and extracting the minerals from the food of which they are eating. The Uratha-vei can manipulate, hold, grasp and open objects with their tentacles, all of which are fully controllable.

The Uratha-vei are mono-gendered, but do require paired intercourse to produce a child. One implants a seed into another, and that one carries it for a period of 4 months. then the baby is born. Most uratha-vei have male or female sounding voices, but there are no restrictions as to the personalities that mate. One of the things that the Danarians found hard to cope with was what appeared to them being homosexual mating, when in truth it was impossible for true homosexuality due to the single gender there is.

Culturally, the Uratha-vei are relatively nomadic. During the first stage, they recieve teachings from "Elders". During the second stage, they become "elders" often teaching the youngers about life. This is where most freedoms come. The much longer period is the "wanderer" status. This is where each one is free to do what they like for about 70 years of their lives. Many simply wonder their homeworld.

Little off topic (first post!)

But I really like how you draw creatures. Reminds me of Samurai Jack!
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.
