Askad-Amzard render

Post by Graham Kennedy »

Another midspace ship, the first class of midspace warships fielded by the Coalition (or what would become a Coalition race, the Coalition itself didn't exist at this point) after the Swiftsure pioneered the technology. The influence of the Swiftsure is obvious in the design, though a bit scaled up. This was also the first ship with AMP cannon.

There is only one major design to come between this and the Vanguard class.

I tried putting windows on this one, but I'm not too happy with how they came out. Might fiddle with it as time goes on.

Incidentally, the "Askad" prefix is affixed to all Turgran warship names. It means "Lucky in battle". It's considered major bad ju-ju not to use it on a Turgran warship.

These are great, Graham. I might need to give Blender a go.

It's a pretty easy program to use, at least in the basics. I'd definitely recommend it.

You're on fire lately, huh? Seriously, the renders are great and so much easier on the eye than the 2D drawings, detailed as they were.

So, what does "Amzard" mean?

No clue, I just made it up as an alien ship name. Much as with humans, Turgrans tend to name ships after famous people, places, battles, nice concepts, etc. So it's probably one of those.

These renders are great. Love them.
