Portable Shield Generators

Post by Graham Kennedy »

Been playing with a series of portable shield generators for my Coalition universe. There are four models so far :

Image

Model 1 : Folded up, measures 10 cm diameter by 40 cm long and weighs 6 kg. Intended to be very portable, easy for a single person to carry around. Will shield an area up to 50 m across for a period of up to 24 hours. Typically carried at the squad or platoon level.

Model 2 : Folded up, measures 15 cm diameter (not including legs) by 72 cm long and weighs 28 kg. Intended to be man portable, though it would be a significant load for a single man. Will shield an area up to 200 m across for a period of up to 48 hours. Typically carried at the platoon level.

Model 3 : Folded up, measures 74 cm diameter by 179 cm long and weighs 1,400 kg. Intended to be portable in small vehicles such as HUMVEE equivalents, either carried as a load or built in to specialist variants. Will shield an area up to 1,000 m across for a period of up to 72 hours. Can be linked to external power supply for longer duration operation. Capable of user-programmed frequency windows for sensors or weapons to fire through, or of opening apertures in the shield.

Model 4 : 3.28 m in diameter by 3.14 m tall, weighs 18,700 kg. Intended to be portable only in larger cargo carrying vehicles, truck and helicopter equivalents. Will shield an area up to 8,000 m across. Requires an external power supply. Fully programmable shield. Intended for the protection of semi-permanent fixed bases.

Do you have any fictional work in this universe or is it all world building.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I did write a little, a while back, but it's very rough and unfinished. It's mostly just worldbuilding for fun.
