Thanks anyway, America, it was nice knowing you

Post by Mikey »

Emperor Trump the Nothingth does his best Louis XIV impression while shitting all over the whole point of a non-monarchial head of state. For any lucky non-American friends who may not be aware, don't confound the issue with anything in the article other than this:

a) Comey did not press forward with criminal charges against Hillary Clinton after performing an investigation, while she was Trump's opponent.
b) Comey continued with a current pending investigation against Trump and the Trump administration regarding Putin's involvement in the election, and subsequently into the multiple Trump people who have been found to have acted as unannounced, unconfirmed foreign agents while still illegally serving in national security and cleared roles. Further, Comey refused to drop the investigation even though Trump reminded Comey that he was, in fact, Trump.
c) Comey has been fired.

There is no way to spin this, to talk around it, or to make it seem coincidental or hyperbolic. This as egregious an abuse of power as I can imagine, and worse is simply symptomatic of the mindset of this man who truly believes that he was elected to be not president, but king.

Come on Mikey, the left has been screaming for Comey's blood for months. Now the Left is just aghast that he was fired? This is not the first FBI Director fired by a President, so spare me the false histrionics.

Well said... and that's coming from a proud member of the right. This President is a fucking buffoon, but the fucking lefties in media need to chill the fuck out over Comey. Neither side liked the guy and both sides have historically manipulated the FBI going back to the Hoover days - this was just far more blatant rather than the games guys like Kennedy played with the FBI. Mikey is right, this is egregious and this shitclown President needs to retire to his tower before four years are aout, but making a martyr for your cause out of the man you just asked to crucify isn't quite fair.

Fuck that. I don't give a skinny rat's ass about Comey... but the why of the situation is absolutely disgusting, and would have had our troops mobilizing if it were done in another formerly-democratic nation. Yates, Pre, this now... no matter how much of an apologist for that person you are, you have to be able to see this as incorrigible to anyone who has any regard for our representative democracy.

EFIT: It is, BTW, a bit scary to me that you think my outrage has anything at all to do with Comey himself rather than Trump using executive power to protect himself instead of, you know, being president.

Jesus H Christ there's three participants in this thread (now 4) and we didn't even get one reply in before blatant accusations of partisanship. Vic, you sound remarkably like der Trumpenfuehrers own twisted simpleton logic: "If I blame it on Hillary's emails the Leftists will eat it up!"
As a member of the left I can assure you being dissatisfied with how the email investigation was handled and being outraged at the Chief Executive firing the head of an agency involved in investigating him and his colleagues and the integrity of one of the hallmarks of our democratic society (the electoral process) are not mutually exclusive.

If you or I did that we'd be charged with obstruction of justice and/or interfering in an active investigation. I can't believe I have to say this but, this is not a partisan issue!

It doesn't change the fact that the sight of the same people who were demanding the bloke be sacked screaming in outrage when he gets sacked is bloody funny.

Could not have said it better myself. Comey fucked up with the emails, but being fired by the man you're investigating? Fuck that. FUCK. THAT.

Mikey, my apologies no outrage meant for you, just frustration at our political system (both left and right). The title set me off more than anything,
if America can survive eight years of Obama it can survive Trump too. It's not the first time this country has been "rocked" by troubles, it will survive.

Oh come on people, this has been partisan from the beginning. Conflating Trump with Nazi's by the way is utterly idiotic, people who do so have no idea what National Socialism is. Get a history lesson people.

Don't tell a history student to get a history lesson  Yes, one should not conflate the modern Republican Party (or more accurately, Trump voter) with the Nazi Party, but there are certain concerning similarities: The strident nationalism, the blaming of The Other (be it Jews then or immigrants, bad hombres and Lie-bruls now), but I digress. I use the term Trumpenfuehrer because Trump's very persona is that of a swaggering, overbearing tin-plated dictator with delusions of god-hood.

Yep. This is going to be his downfall, and rightfully so. When your CIC is a greater security threat than any foreign terror... we have a problem.

I dont want Pence.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Pence's hatred of gays urks me, but I find his economic policies sensible. Socially, no amount of conservatism will ever hold back the liberal fucktard millennial generation's insistence on tolerance for everything that doesn't go against their own world view, so any sympathy Pence may have for the religious right will quickly be washed out (as it should be). At least he's not a total buffoon like who we have here.

So now it turns out that Trump instructed Comey to stop the Flynn investigation.

I long for the days when blurting out classified intelligence information to an adversary in the oval office was the worst thing the American President could do.

I remember it like it was yesterday...
