0902 - day two

After unsuccesfully attempting to shadow individuals in the crowd that thronged the streets, Milo returned to the group while keeping an eye on the cherub above. Looking at the Sororitas' and the tech-priest's expressions, he said, "You saw them too, sisters?"

"Saw whom?" said the assassin, sidling up in an unsettling manner.

After the rest of the party drew closer, Milo began, "There are... individuals... in the crowd. They wear grotesque face paint in blue and white flame designs. They seem to have an interest in us, but the rest of the crowd doesn't seem to notice them at all; moreover, they disappear into the throng with no trace when we take an interest in them." He nodded to Phebia, who nodded back in confirmation though her expression remained one of distaste for the psyker. Trask ignored her look and half-closed his eyes in concentration, supporting himself on his staff as his steps faltered momentarily.

"Whatever they are, there is no sign of warp taint in the immediate area," he announced.

Pahr noticed Trask's unease, and warned himself to be on guard. The crushing throng of people and the uncomfortable feeling he had every time he looked at the sky were proving to be a sizable distraction, however. He hated planetside, but he could normally focus on his target and stay sharp.

Not today, he thought, sliding past another group of people, it must be that damned blazing sunlight.

He caught back up to the forbidding psyker, determined to keep his eyes trained on the man's back. Looking upward to keep track of the cherub kept making him dizzy.

While your party is being briefed by Trask, you are accosted by a half-naked and badly sun-burned stranger with dirt-caked hair and blue flame and white flame tattoos across his face. He shouts a string of wild phrases and obscenities at you and is clearly too far gone to be reasoned with.

Phebia nodded at Milo, her disgust for him evident on her face but she responded only with, "Yes I did. We're being watched." When the strange man approaches Phebia quickly steps between him and the others. She quickly draws her revolver and levels it at him as her left hand loosens her flail from her hip. "Halt!" she barks.

Pahr reached as fast as he could for his throwing knives; the man was almost on top of them. He readied to strike.

Haxta watched Phebia's and Milo's fruitless attempts to follow the bizarre individuals. She made no effort herself, seeing little hope in succeeding where the other two had failed. She nodded in responce to the psyker's question, but said nothing, though her hand once again found it's way into her sleeve for the comfort of her pistol.

At the stranger's approach, she flicked the safety off the weapon, but didn't draw until Phebia shouted, more startled by the Sororitas' sudden yell, and she almost blew a hole through the back of her robe as her finger nearly squeezed the trigger in alarm. Finally pulling the weapon free, she held it ready, not yet aiming at the cursing wild man.

As Phebia draws her weapons a group of Ashleen hotheads who have been following you since you arrived appear screaming out of the crowd, "Begone off-worlders! We don't need your kind!". They draw their Clubs and revolvers and make ready to strike.

0905 - day two

As combat broke out between the group of acolytes and the painted natives, Milo began to sidestep toward the nearest pile of metal crates, quickly drawing his naval-issue stub auto in the process. As he did so, a shadow appeared to fall across him and then he seemed to reappear about 8m to the left. He raised his pistol and fired - a shot rang out from an indeterminate location and struck the southernmost of their attackers squarely in the chest.

Pahr realized two things simultaneously: one, his throwing knives weren't going to help. Two, his rifle wouldn't be much good in such close quarters. He drew his grapnel from his belt, and fired a cable to the rooftop to his left. Several of the attackers looked fairly surprised as he activated the powered winch, and sped upward.

Shocked by the sudden turn of events, Marco scrambled back towards the side of the street, drawing his revolver as he did so.

Enrick charged the nearest target, a blood raged scream coming from somewhere between the soul and hell. Catching the man unprepared for the on rush. Enrick cut low, taking a deep chunk out of the man's left leg. As the man fell against the wall, screaming in pain from his wound. Enrick drove his axe into the man's chest. Crushing through flesh and bone, the air bubbled from within the mans lungs and out the hole in his torso. Enrick ripped the axe from the corpse, throwing a wall of blood at the next man as Enrick turned to face him. "Come on little man! Take a chance!"

Phebia took a half step towards the tattooed and sun burned stranger, dropping her shoulder and slamming into his chest. Inspite of her size she easily dumped him on his ass. Bringing her revolver back in line she snapped off a shot at the nearest Ashleen behind the crazed individual but the shock of the collision threw off her aim and the shot went wide.

Even though she was expecting it, the start of the battle caught Haxta off guard. The sudden, sicken sound of metal hacking through flesh, and the sharp scream of pain that followed stunned her into inaction for a second, and all hell broke loose. As everyone around her sprung into action, Haxta brought her pistol up, aiming for one of the wild eyed men surrounding them. Her nerves weren't quite settled enough though, and she cursed loudly as the shot went wide.

The Ashleen thugs, unnerved by the former Guardsman's challenge miss their shots by a wide margin, their hands shaking. With the exception of one, who lands a solid hit on Von Hayden's left arm. Fortunately his armour holds and he fights on.

As soon as Pahr's boots hit the litter-strewn rooftop, he spun, dropping his grapnel. He slid his rifle's strap over his head, and looked down into the alleyway.

A single small *clack* was heard as the silenced rifle put a round into Pahr's chosen target. Unfortunately, the bullet passed through flesh; the scum staggered, clutching his arm for a moment before resuming the fight.

Pahr cursed under his breath, and readied himself for another shot.
