0821 day three

Milo felt his usual bitterness at the combination of ex-navy + officer. Drawing himself up, he said, "Don't assume. A number of us have made drops before. And," Milo continued, his tone deepening, "make sure there's full landing party kit aboard - medkit, lamp packs, vox beads, and the usual."

The deck officer chuckled briefly. "Don't get bass in your voice with me, bolt magnet. You get what you get, and you don't get upset." Still chuckling, the deck officer turned away.

0822 Day Three

The Deck Officer turns to Karibi and explains, "you will be making planet fall in that lighter" and jerks his thumb at the craft. "It'll be rough, would you like a sedative?", at that he hands you a small blue pill and turns to hustle the party on board.

The interior of the small craft is cramped and uncomfortable, the seats hard metal with thick and heavy straps to keep passengers from coming loose during flight. As you finish seating yourself a harsh mechanical voice comes over the vox-unit and counts down until descent. You hear the bay doors seal shut with a hiss and then a gut-churning lurch as the lighter falls into the void. As zero-g asserts itself you notice loose items begin to float around the cabin.

A few moments later you hear a deafening roar as the lighters engines ignite and your pressed back in your seat.

For the next thirty minutes the shuttle shakes horribly and conversation is impossible, after which the roaring noises slowly stops and conversation is possible once again.

Phebia strapped herself into the seat. She pulled the straps as tight as they'd go then pulled some more. Painfully tight straps were better than painfully broken bones. She'd spent a month with her arm in a cast the last time she'd prioritized comfort over security. After she'd locked into her seat she pulled out one of the tomes her mistress at the convent had given her to study and began to read.

"Er, yes. Thank you." Karibi said, taking the pill after eying the spacecraft dubiously and hurrying inside the cramped vessel.
Choosing a seat as close to the exit as possible, he swallowed the pill and proceeded to fit his restraints as tight as possible, hoping vaguely he wouldn't lose his lunch.

Trask silently sat down and fitted his restraints. Seeminlgy nonplussed, he began his habitual murmuring litany of devotions and began to read from a small book marked, like his staff, with a stylized capital "I" decorated with a symbolized human eye.

Haxta regarded the lighter dismissively. She'd never been on a drop before, but didn't figure it could be any worse than warp travel. Choosing the most isolated seat in the cabin, she strapped herself in securely, though not as tight as some others were.

As it turned out, the jarring, bouncing, gut wrenching ride, while not necessarly worse than warp, was different enough and new enough to send Haxta's stomach spinning. Eyes wide, she fumbled suddenly for the straps of her respirator, just barely managing to rip the device off before her morning meal came up with a sickening, coughing retch. Both her respirator and the semi-liquid contents of her stomach began to drift lazily around the cabin as she sagged back into her seat.

Her hood had fallen back in her haste, leaving her nearly white blonde hair to float about like seaweed in an ocean current. Her face alternated between interesting shades of green and red as she struggled with her rebelling innards and the over whelming shame of having just hurled in front of everyone. She kept her head down and refused to look up.

Pahr sat silently, his eyes closed, in a state of meditation so deep that a casual observer would likely think him to be asleep.

One eyelid parted momentarily as the Tech-priest heaved up the contents of her stomach, but for the rest of the trip, he was as still as the grave.

0855 Day Two

You feel a bump as the lighter settles on the pad and the pilots voice blares over the vox, announcing that you have arrived at Port Suffering. The hatch pops open, admitting a wave of heat and bright light. The landing field is revealed through the haze outside the portal. You can see a scorched landing field, broken ground blacked by uncounted shuttle and lighter engines. Encircling the landing field is a high wire fence and looming beyond that, the metal-clad walls of the Port Suffering settlement.

The air reeks of chemicals, propellants and cleaning agents but beneath the odours one would expect of such a place, there's a faint but sweet smell of iron.

As you disembark, you dozens of filthy-faced men scrubbing the hull, attaching refuelling hoses and workmen approaching with a hover sled to unload the supplies your transport brought.

Within moments a blotchy faced individual approaches, wearing once fine navy-blue's which are now covered in in dust and gold chains. With him are large men wearing re-breathers and casually cradling shotguns.

He greets you and then asks, "What is your purpose here, where did you come from, how long do you intend to stay?", while the guards lean over you. Shotguns in hand.

Despite still feeling somewhat drowzy from the effects of the sedative, Karibi did his best to stride up to the man.

"Archivist Marco Karibi, Scholar of the Colleges Hetaireia Lexis." He said confidently, trying his best not to slur his words. He gestured at his comrades. "My companions and I are here on highly important business. Where may we aquire transportation?"

As their questioner's lackeys towered over them Phebia's hands drifted to her belt. One resting on the butt of her revolver and the other on the handle of her flail. The shotgun wielding thugs were too close for her lascarbine. While Karibi spoke she kept a close watch on the thugs.

Still slightly green, the light, heat, and chemical smell coming in from the open door did little to settle Haxta's stomach, and she quickly tore off her restraints in order to retrieve her respirator and secure it again, pulling her hood back up over her head dispite the warmth. Taking a deep breath of purified air, she slowly followed the others out of the thrice damned lighter.

When the greeting party approached, Haxta found herself unconciously shifting to position herself behind Phebia and Enrich as she crossed her arms, one hand passing up through the voluminous sleeves of her robes to find the butt of her las pistol.

0857 day two

Milo remained standing in the hatch of the lighter as the attendant squinted at Karibi. Finally, he said, "You heard the man - we are here on Imperial business, and require transportation. See to it!" as he gestured pointedly with the head of his staff - decorated ominously with the "I" and eye symbol and the Imperial aquila.

Both startled and roused by the tone of command, the official grunted, squinted again, and began to turn and shuffle towards his office.

8:57 AM - Day Two.
Enrick stood before the party. Not to sure as to what was going on. Though his combat eyes were more then enough too see that things may go out of hand. Enrick's hands slip too his axe and shotgun. Prepared to draw blood for the Emperor. Though he enjoyed his nap in the drop ship, this moment in time may prove to be more interesting.

0857-1000 Day Two

The bureaucrat turns from your party, muttering to himself and heads off the field with his thugs. You notice a few minutes afterwards that a crew has started unloading your kit from the lighter and onto a cart. Out of the corner of your eye you see a tiny, battered cherubim it's cracked and dirty face beaming heading in your direction. It appears to be held up by metallic wings with pearls for eyes. It hands your party a piece of parchment adorned with the with the cipher of your Inquisitors personal cadre and it instructs you to follow the cherub to Aristarchus "who awaits the pleasure of meeting you".

The cherub wizzes off into the city and your forced to jog to keep pace. As you proceed through the town you notice that it is a decidedly ramshackle affair, no two buildings are the same. It's a mismatch of clay brickwork, metal sheeting and stone blocks.. Everything is drab and dusty, reeks of scorched metal and is oppressively hot. The locals are grimy, hard faced and wear a patchwork of scavenged clothes.

The seemingly endless alleyways are choked with throngs of people, pressing against you and murmuring in a hundred different dialects.

The cherub continues to slip through and above the crowd with ease, you lose sight of it often and it occasionally re-appears higher up to wave at you to keep pace.

0857-1000 Day 2

Phebia jogs along after the cherub easily able to keep up after her training in the convent. Several times in the trip she turns off for some reason, heading into the throngs around them only to be brought up short by the press of bodies. With a frustrated sigh she rejoins the party only to do it again several other times. She's visibly distracted in thought for the last few minutes of the trip,
