"Caprica"

Is anyone else watching this?

I'm a bit iffy with it so far, but it's managing to hold my attention for now.

I've been watching them, they're certainly different than the previous Galactica but not bad overall. I have no idea where they're going to go but the robot daniel graystone has made does look cool, nice and low tech looking. The little house robots are kinda cool,

I'm finding it heavy going. I read an interview where they said they wanted very much to make it more like a sci fi soap opera and lose the whole "War in space" vibe that BSG had.

Well... I don't LIKE soap opera...

I'm in agreement with you there, I'll stop watching it if it gets too soapy. For now though it's not too much like Battlestar Coronation Street. We have suicide bombings, religious violence, cults, a few mysteries, corrupt officials, mobsters, robots, terrorists and it seems that Graystone's wife may get murdered.

It would be nice if
the cylon prototype with the zoe avatar in it stops the killing of mrs graystone by killing her attacker becoming the first smart machine to kill a human

I think what I've seen so far is pretty cool.

Though I'm still on episode 7 of nBSG, so I might not have a full picture to compare.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm not really seeing anything to level the "soap opera" accusation at it.

My free time doesn't jive with this show. Are we seeing a prequel to BSG? Do we see any other kind of ships? What the hell is the premise anyway?
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Not yet.

The creation of the Cylons, and presumably, the start of the first war.

Are we seeing any familiar faces?

BTW, how far back is the show supposed to be taking place?

It's set 58 years before nBSG, so the only familiar character so far is William Adama as a 12-year-old.

I think we've seen Adama as a little boy. That's the only one I've caught so far.

We see Will Adama and his family. So far he's the only nBSG character to appear.
