well now that my bathroom vists have become the discussion of the board, I do have a question for Ian......for some reason when I click on the 'go to new post' link I wind up looking at Foxfyre's post about the board being faster. It's done it 3 or four times now. Other than that it works fine, i.e. it isn't still lit up after I've read the posts, but it doesn't seem to be able to move beyond that post. I'll also point out that it's only in this thread that that's been happening.

Same here. I've also just looked at this thread at the top of the politics forum, and when I've gone back to the main page there's still been a red dot on the announcements forum.

I've been getting the former issue - I assumed it was something to do with the "global announcement" tag - but not the latter.

Any idea why your host has twice shut down the forum in order to do nothing whatsoever?

I shut down the forum on a scheduled time that they said they would do the work. The first time nothing happened. The second time (today) they complained that Plesk wasn't working correctly on the vps server (current server). Why that stopped them is beyond me, because it's them the provide Plesk in the first place. Anyhow we're all set to do it all again tomorrow. Hopefully correctly this time. So one more time:

The forum will not be available from 9am tomorrow morning, that is Tuesday 12th April 2011 at 9AM BST. For those that haven't seen the previous messages BST = GMT + 1.

It didn't happen because I didn't let them do it. I want to know more about the new server before I ask them to through the switch. The real pain is that Sky have now moved by broadband over to them from O2. The real pain in that is that they didn't send me the router to use with the service. Thus I have no broadband at home. (this message is coming from work and yes it's 8:40pm). Off home now to visit the Victorian age.

OK, it's only currently going at 4 meg, rather than the 12-14 meg I'm used to, but that will improve with time. That and the fact that the new router should be here by the weekend.
