Don't tempt him, Mikey. God knows I've wanted to do some heinous things to my stupid !@#$ computers over the years.

And, I'm back.

It only took installing a new motherboard, processor and RAM, and figuring out that my first XP disc was bad... :?

Oh is that all :P
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Yeah, nothing especially remarkable. Now we'll see how quick I can get used to XP Professional.

I'm still having a few minor issues, like having to reinstall XP this morning, but I should be able to sort out these software glitches. Apparently, my new cheap-o Intel motherboard wants to run Vista. I'm not about to do that, so I'll work around it. :?

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Feels good to be back. :)

Honestly, Vista has been pretty great for me. Never thought I'd say it. Of course, it was pre-installed on a factory-built computer, so there aren't any compatibility issues.

Vista isn't really as bad as some people say it is, it's just really buggy. And Microsoft is making updates all the time.

I just got my desktop back from my friend who was borrowing for several months. Nice to be able to play video games on computer again.

Vista is terrible if you need to do any programming. And it saps the performance.

Mine is built from spare parts. My friend and I built it when I was the IT guy at the Salvation Army. But, I DO still run XP, and that's good enough for me for a while.

I found that turning Aero off will help tremendously in performance.
