It must be said, Ian and I's impression of the Clone army is rather affected by watching them perform in the CGI thing recently.

I haven't seen the CGI cartoon (don't think I will 'till I can get it for cheap, either), so I'm just going on stuff from the movies.

Same here. Whatever Lucas wants to call "canon," it can't affect my opinion if I haven't seen it (and won't.)

No, not really. I'm just saying that I can't speak to the effectiveness of the Clone Army in a film I haven't seen.

Out of curiosity, Ian, how bad were the Clones' tactics in the movie? Can you remember any particularly glaring incidents offhand?

It was more then concept that you hadn't seen it, and wouldn't see it, that I was referring to. Not watching things because you know you would have to change your mind about something... Perhaps not what you meant, but It was the way your post came across.Mikey wrote:No, not really. I'm just saying that I can't speak to the effectiveness of the Clone Army in a film I haven't seen.

I remember a part where they seemed to just stand around as the enemy, the remarkably stupid drones and others, come towards them. They keep saying how bad things are and not really doing much to change things. For example, they say once or twice that they must retreat, but then fail to. The enemy seemed to be approaching them in a single file down a road for some reason. Eventually, Kenobi, sits and waits for the army to capture him so he can pretend to start surrender negotiations with their leader. Meanwhile, Skywalker (Senior) and Scrappy-Do go off to kill a shield generator. Once the generator is down they kill off the enemy fairly quickly.Rochey wrote:Out of curiosity, Ian, how bad were the Clones' tactics in the movie? One really stupid thing about this that came to mind at the time is if you can simply sit there and let the shield move over you, causing no harm what so ever, then why didn't they simply mine the road and wait for then enemy to move onto the mines. A blindingly obvious tactic that they seemed to have missed.

That does sound pretty poor.

Not nearly what I meant. What I was saying was the opposite - not that I wouldn't see it because I wouldn't want my opinion changed; rather that it wouldn't change my opinion because I wouldn't have seen it.IanKennedy wrote:It was more then concept that you hadn't seen it, and wouldn't see it, that I was referring to. As I said perhaps not what you meant but it was how it came across to me, thus the comment. Apologies, I thought it was odd at the time.

Yes, but it's also the only thing you can really respond to. Intent is really difficult to make coherent response forMikey wrote:Perception is reality, eh?
