So X Characters end up in the past with no way back...

Post by AlexMcpherson79 »

Just a little 'bunny' game. If you had the muse (and general writing ability and strength of will to stick it out)... how would you handle the basic premise of a singular or group of characters ending up in the distant past to live out their lives, and the consequent changes to the individual Star Trek shows?

As the OP, I offer the first bunny, and someone replies with their 'answer' to the plot, then offer their own bunny for the next person.

My bunny:

The Traveler(s): Odo, Kira, Bashir, Dax (Ezri)
The originating time period: Post-War alternate where the dominion won, but lost because whilst the cure bashir came up with worked on odo, the disease had mutated due to his short period as a humanoid (he was infected sometime season 4, perhaps when Sisko and Odo went to earth and sisko had been made head of security during the paradise lost rogue-admiral plot and defiant-vs-upgradedexcelsior episode), therefore that cure didn't work on the unmutated-form the great link was infected with, and had been active all that time since. And maybe the season 6 linking with the 'female founder' didn't happen, so even that founder couldn't have been cured like in WYLB, which in this timeline didn't happen. a lot to unpack for this kind of "we lost", but the instigator to going back in time anyway.

The destination time period: Intended to be "only a few years", but ended up a say, a few centuries... and in the Gamma quadrant. long enough that as humanoids, the other three would have otherwise become long-dead.
Any specific details: The founders were infected by odo with the new virus in the past and die out unbeknown to the group until it's too late, but odo now knows enough to know how to transform his friends because apparently as changelings they'd be effectively immortal, and bashir is the one who made the cure anyway, so the three are ok. And by the time of DS9, are running the dominion - though the vorta and jem-hadar already existed by the time they arrived, and actually aren't all that different, just, muted, (genetic locks or something)
