Best Trek Movie Moment 1: The Motion Picture (Revised)

In the first one, I think I hit the "Submit" Button prematurely.

This is what I meant to post.

I'd have to say the Ride to the refited Enterprise and the launching.

There's some great moments in there, but the reveal of the refited Enterprise is still the best.

I'd say the credits cause then I knew the damn thing was finally finished.

I still have to go with the refit reveal. It was a suitably dramatic reunion with an old friend, and didn't actually involve any pajamas or crummy story-writing.

Reviewing the list, I realize that even though it's a slow movie, there's still a good amount of nice stuff to look at. The launching of the Enterprise is the one thing from the movie that's really stuck with me the most as I haven't seen the movie in quite a while.

Seems we have an overwhelming favorite here. Same thing will happen if we do STII - Spock's death will be a runaway winner.

When the Reliant first opens fire on the Enterprise would get my ST II vote. But I just like seeing combat scenes :P

The problem with the Motion Picture isn't that there's a lack of good scenes, but that those scenes are linked together with utter garbage. Great moments cannot compenste for the lack of a decent plot.

The basic idea of the movie wasn't an altogether bad one, it was just poorly executed.

Still going for the launching scene.

I need to see TMP again with with adult eyes, as I haven't seen it in about two decades, and back then it seemed pretty dull next to the sugar rush of the Star Wars films.
The bit that lingers most in my memory is the opening sequence with the Klingons, and the background music, which was utterly spot on for the retooled Klingons.
