Your favourite Trek sound effects

Here's mine, from here, and other places.

TOS Torpedo launch This just sounds so awesome.

Klingon Torpedoes are pretty awesome too. Honestly, the whole Klingon battle sequence from TMP is probably one of my favourite pieces of special effects ever, and in large part because of the amazing sound design.

Alien Planet This clip always struck me as being so perfect in the way it conveys just utter desolation. TOS had several planets which were habitable but had pretty much no life on them - maybe a handful of miners or a small science team, all alone on an entire planet. You can listen to this clip and really believe that there isn't another person within ten thousand miles of you.

Or how about The communicator whistle. I like this because it's kind of future retro... an electronic sound, but one designed to reflect an ancient sound. It makes you think of Starfleet as an organisation aware of history.

And who wouldn't want a Tribble?

Any favourites of yours?

I love thr tribble coo, too. So peaceful, unless you're a Klingon. :D

I think mine would be this TOS bridge ambience, the TOS transporter, and the staccato version of the TOS ship's phasers. I don't know why, but those sounds specifically are very iconic to me.

I've always liked the cloaking devices, very eerie. I also love how, well, magical the TOS Transporter sounds.
