New Ships I've Never Seen Before

Post by Talondor »

Looking around a few sites (mostly Deviant.art) I have come across pictures of ships I have never seen before (I do not know if they are ship or class names):

Excalibur
Hyperion
Insignia
Thunderchild
Torquernada
Andorian Kumari (saw this one alot on Deviant a month or two ago)

They all look like Federation-type ships, and the pictures I have seen all have other Federation stuff in them (Spacedocks, Runabouts, etc.), and a couple of them look like they would dwarf even a Sovereign. I am only familiar with the movies and the TV series, and I was wondering are they part of what I believe is called the "expanded" universe (novels, comics, RPGs, computer games), or are they just fan-created stuff.

Problem with asking that is that over the years there have been so many ships people have made with those names.

Hyperion might be the Starfleet Museum one.

Excalibur might be the next ship class after the Sovereign class that the Enterprise-F is part of.

Thunderchild I know was the Akira in First Contact.

Thunderchild is a cool name for a Federation ship.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

The Excalibur is what I was talking about though that picture doesn't do it justice. Others never seen before.

The Kumari is official from ST: Enterprise.

The Kumari-class is, as McAvoy said, a canon ship (Andorian, not human, BTW) from ST: Ent. The rest are ones which you wouldn't have seen before, because they aren't really Star Trek ships. They are ships that some dudes designed in the style of 'Trek, that is all.

As an aside, it is incredibly offensive that somebody would call a ship class "Torquemada." It takes a special kind of asshole to do that.

The Schicklegruber is the TOS version. It was refitted into the Hitler class...
