Well, if it's anti-grav... would they need a track, or would it be there for nostalgia's sake?

Technically, mag-lev is "anti-gravity" since it functions in opposition to gravity.. and yes, it needs a track (or a track-like series of magnet housings.)

Mag levs usually wrap around a track so it should be pretty close to impossible for one to fly off the rail. I'd imagine you could do something similar with antigrav.
