I've found a couple of side one diagrams pointing them out, damned if I can point to them on that pic though.

Once again starfleet just doesn't give the slightest damn about off axis thrust.

Which would seem to indicate they have found a way to make it a non issue.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Perhaps control over gravity and inertia and possibly mass makes it a non issue.
