Fine to join in now. Just also say where you're deploying your ships and what they are doing there. I suppose you can be thin on commenting on others and explaining your choices, but you at least need deployment.

For example if you wanted to focus on hunting pirates maybe some ships could stay near the planetary trading routes and others could fan out to other areas and check out a planet or do a circuit between two spots on the map etc.

And no you haven't been given a specific timeframe. That will be dependent on when starfleet needs you elsewhere. In practical terms I've only got some many sets of events and things planned after which starfleet will need you to move on or will want to move someone else in regardless of what you have or have not accomplished.

I'm sorry, I just haven't been able to get to planning yet... I'll keep my eye on it, and maybe the next go 'round I'll be in. I don't want to hold you guys up.

Well you still have a while to get the brain cells fired up. At least until some others reply update their stuff. But if you want to take a bye that's OK.

What a random fleet. :)
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

It combines medical facilities, colony facilities, an akira with two wings of fighters, a vessel used for diplomacy and a scout

I take it that the Sov is "loyal" or are you trying to use pure starfleet?
I'll adhere more to Starfleet principals, but I'd prefer to have a handpicked crew, as I may solve some situations in a rather un-Starfleet way.
The only trick is that you selected a nova, not an Olympic. You could simply swap the two and have an exactly 1000pt fleet.
Whoops! I meant the Olympic. Or whichever one is the medical ship.
As for the peregrines DITL doesn't give the Sov carrier capacity, nor is there any hint in cannon for it, so I won't let you just carry them in the Sov as deployable fighters. Plus maybe the shuttles and stuff were figured into it's Dip/sci ratings. I don't know.
Okay, no problem.

I'll put them at the station then, as you sugested.

Okey-dokey....well, I'm deploying my ships basically in the middle between the four Eneb worlds...I'm assuming there're some sort of trading routes between them? My plan is to basically hang around until a Pirate attack comes; then I'll try to follow them back to their base and crush them. Or at the very least, just crush them there and then. :D

I'm waiting for deployment info from JudgeKing and Hewer (and maybe Mikey ). Once that comes in I'll do the first set of replies and events.

Actually I'm really busy too, traveling to an interview all day tomorrow. So I guess everyone has until I get back tomorrow then.

My fleet (it might not seem to make sense at first glance, but...)

Sovereign uprated pts 484
Str 3,084
Dip 5 sci 5
Warp 8/9.9/9.99

Defiant Pts 173
Str:1,551
Dip: 2 sci 2
Warp 6/8.7/9.5

Intrepid pts 94
Str: 591
Dip 3 sci 3
Warp 8/9.975/9.985

Olympic pts 33
Str 124
Dip 3 sci 2(7 medical)
Warp 6/8/9
Special rule: medical ship. Does not fight, but in addition to enhanced medical science abilities it can take on large plagued populations.

6x Nova pts 32
Str 255
Dip 1 sci 4
Warp 6/7/8

Total ships: 10

Total points: 976

Total Dip/sci: 19/36(41)

Total strength: 6,880

--------------------------

My thoughts are that a flexible force with numerous ships centered around a powerful flagship, with a dedicated medical ship (should the need arise), a powerful escort, a fast scout ship, and a small fleet of science vessels should be able to handle most threats, thouroughly explore the sector, conduct serious diplomatic efforts, and do these things in a reasonable amount of time, with minimal danger.

--------------------------

Okay, so, starting at T'Eneb (F-4), I will send all six Novas at maximum speed to grid square C-4 (adjacent to Object 232 ...51 minutes away) scanning on maximum power the whole way (Sci: 24).

I start diplomacy with T'Eneb using my flagship (the Sovereign), the Defiant, and my Olympic medical ship, showcasing firepower and medical tech, with the express purpose of getting them officially on my side. (Dip: 10) I initiate intensive scans of the adjacent grids with all three ships (Sci: 9).

Then, I send the Intrepid at maximum speed diagonally to grid I-7 (above Object 231 ...8 minutes away), scanning the whole way (Sci: 3).

Now I guess I wait for the first event, right?

My tactics: 1) Keep my base of operations secure for now, as I concentrate on their membership; my flagship is in range to defend adjacent grids from attack.

2) find out what the two Objects are (unknowns bother me).

3) after I get some definative knowledge of the unknown Objects, adjust my strategy accordingly. In the meantime, I have the main objective at least fairly secure.

1x Sovereign uprated- 484
2x Intrepids-188
1x Defiant-173
4x Novas-128
989 points

1) Send an Intrepid to the Eneb system and show them the benefits of joing the Federation
2) Set up Sensor posts to find where the pirates are.
3) Capture them.
4) Have some wargames.
5) Colonize a few uninhabited M class planets.
