A nice ending to what will arguably be the last Trek TV show with Big E centre stage."Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission-" - Captain Picard
"-to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life, and new civilizations-" - Captain Kirk
"-to boldly go where no man has gone before." - Captain Archer

Good point. Ironic that the crappy ending to a crappy series should end so well.

Re: Greatest Trek line ever
"Physical reality is consistent with universal laws. When the laws do not operate, there is no reality." - Spock to McCoy, The Spectre of the Gun.
As a science teacher, something about that line just strikes a chord with me.
"You think that's what I want? Become one of them? Become my own enemy? Just lie around like a big blob of nothing and have things done for me? No, sir... if I want to do something, I'll do it for myself! If I want to laugh or cry, I'll do it for myself! You can keep your precious power! All I ask is one thing... if you do make it out of here, take me with you!" - Alexander to McCoy, Plato's Stepchildren. Alexander was a truly noble character, who maintained his own dignity in the face of a lifetime of physical and emotional abuse. When he's offered the chance for revenge, he not only turns it down but sneers at the very idea that he would stoop to it. Remarkable.
"Is Data a machine? Yes. Is he the property of Starfleet? No. We have all been dancing around the basic issue. Does Data have a soul? I don't know that he has. I don't know that I have! But I have got to give him the freedom to explore that question himself. It is the ruling of this court that Lieutenant Commander Data has the freedom to choose." - Phillipa's ruling on Data, The Measure of a Man.

"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wonderous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross... but it's not for the timid." - Q to Picard.

Garak: "It's the safest way, isn't it?"

Re: Greatest Trek line ever
If people are going to start quoting every great line Garak ever came out with this is going to take a while.
"This is an Alpha Red priority mission clearance verification Nine Two Eight Black. By the authority the Central Command, you are ordered to turn your ships around. Erase all record of this encounter from your logs and speak of it to no one. Is that clear?
...
Just something I overheard while hemming someone's pants." - Garak, Second Skin
Hands up who believed his excuse.

"Well, she's a new ship, but she's got the right name. Now you remember that, you hear? You treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home."
There are.... FOUR LIGHTS!
McCoy: Well, either choke me or cut my throat. Make up your mind.
Khan: English. I thought I dreamed hearing it. Where am I?
McCoy: You're in bed, holding a knife at your doctor's throat.
Khan: Answer my question.
McCoy: It would be most effective if you would cut the carotid artery, just under the left ear.
"I shall be honored, sir."

I've always found quite a profound line....I'm sure the situation and context it was delivered in added to the profoundedness-ness of it

You could say the same for most of the quotes in this thread, especially those from TWoK.thelordharry wrote:I've always found quite a profound line....I'm sure the situation and context it was delivered in added to the profoundedness-ness of it

Picard in first contact
"They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Well no further... the line must be drawn here... and I will make them pay for what they've done!"

Spock: "I find that...insulting."

Odo: Has it ever occurred to you that the reason you believe the Founders are gods is because that's what they want you to believe? That they built it into your genetic code?
Weyoun 6: Of course they did. That's what gods do. After all, why be a god if there's no one to worship you?
Odo: You still haven't answered my question. Why did you decide to defect?
Weyoun 6: I realized my place is with you.
Odo: You can do better than that.
Weyoun 6: Then let's just say, I left Cardassia because my life was in danger.
Odo: From whom?
Weyoun 6: Everyone.
Odo: Aren't you being a little paranoid?
Weyoun 6: Of course I'm paranoid, everyone's trying to kill me.
