HELP! I need suggestions
I am trying to describe to a friend of mine, who doesn't get to watch a lot of TV and is apparently easily confused, about Star Trek. What should I tell her and if/when the time comes, what recommendations for episodes to watch do you have. From any/all of the series.

Have him watch the SFdebris on TNG-AGT. It shows both the good and bad side of things and really covers a lot of the TNG era in just twenty minutes.

Re: HELP! I need suggestions
A quick rundown on the different series would work nicely.
TOS: The original show, with Kirk/Shatner. Campy, cheesey, bad acting, low budget, but still pretty fun to watch.
TNG: The revival of Star Trek that came a few decades later. Tends more towards moralising than action.
DS9: Set on a space station, featuring a few members of the TNG cast. The first show that really had season-spanning plots. Fair bit of action.
VOY: Utter idiocy. Don't watch.
ENT: See above.

Re: HELP! I need suggestions
As far as introductory eps to watch, I'd go with the ones that focus most on characterization and least on the SF aspect as more than set material. TOS: "The City on the Edge of Forever" and TNG: "The Inner Light" come to mind.

It wasn't quite that bad. Season four, if you cut out Storm Front and Riker's badly-researched holodeck fantasy, was quite watchable.Sionnach Glic wrote:ENT: See above.

Most of season 3 wasn't bad either. The first two seasons were by and large show cases of incompetence but it got better towards the end.
