No idea. I guess its just a way of differentiating them.

For the Roundabouts, there really isn't anything even remotely as fun as taking a roundabout at full speed when coming of a dual carriage way. Cruising round a roundabout at 60mph is so unbelievably fun...and a tad bit dangerous.

The zebra i understand it but the others, not that much.
The toucan is designed for people and bikes ("two-can [cross]" - some civil servant evidently has a taste for puns), a pegasus is for people and horses, and puffins and pelicans are corruptions of acronyms. Wiki's got the explanations.

Because people in groups are animals. When you get people in groups, they either turn into obeidant sheep, or savage beasts. In the case of the former, groups of people can be herded along by simple instructions, most will obey just to avoid not being the odd one out. I guess the UK is willing to admit this.

For people and horses, you might as well go with centaur.

So what was the final agreement on the Trek Combat Range debate for DS9? As that was where most of the talk was pointing when I left.

Nah, it's just not an issue that can be resolved. Opinions are subjective.

Well, they can shoot at long range but they choose not to. So the question is "Why don't they?"

Poor targeting, ECM, high speed versus human/computer ability... Maybe all the above. Those are the only choices we really have that I can think of.

I believe that although some guys still argue that they actually shoot at long ranges but we don't see it in the FX because it doesn't looks cool.
As Tsukiyumi stated, it's matter of opinion now.
