Out here, "big" is a relative term. A 30 minute drive somewhere is considered a road trip (and most people refuse a commute to work of that distance).
Out here on Oahu you can drive end to end in an hour and a half, and you can completely circle the island in a little over two.
It takes you several hours to drive from Kona to Hilo (the two big cities on the Big Island)
