Earth in the 24th Century

Post by Captain Picard's Hair »

What do we and don't we know about our home planet in Trek? Earth becomes home to a great diversity of Federation species, being the capital planet. Mars and the moon seem to be colonized. From a couple of sources, it seems much of the environmental damage has been healed.

Picard still refers to his home as "France," Riker to his as "Alaska," and O'Brien to his as "Ireland." Are these just names of places or do they still refer to self-governing entities (a state, in the case of Alaska)? We don't know much about the governing of individual worlds - even Earth. Has the arrival of alien species to Earth changed some of the plant, animal, or microbial life? There does still seem to be some distinct local culture, as seen in New Orleans during DS9.

Systems have become so integrated that one virus, spread by Starfleet, was capable of knocking offline all power.

What else is there?

The rednecks of the world still won't understand whats going on and will continue to shoot at anyone or anything that bothers them.
