Most Iconic TV Openings

Post by Talondor »

I was watching a episode of The Twilight Zone and as I was watching the opening sequence with it's music, it got me thinking, what are the most iconic TV opening sequences of all-time. So I made a list, just off the top of my head in no particular order.

Twilight Zone
Get Smart
The Simpsons
The Andy Griffith Show
Cheers
MASH
Bonanza
Dallas
Star Trek
Barney Miller (love the opening music, with it's bass)
Beverly Hillbillies
All In The Family
Wide World of Sports (The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat...will always remember that skijumper crashing on the second part of that line)

I haven’t really thought of all of the ones I’d name, but I just watched one that blew me away. There was an anime series (2 seasons plus an OAV) in the mid-2000’s called Black Lagoon and the credits/intro are one of the most stylized, artistic, and straight-up-badass things I’ve seen on TV. Also got to give a nod to The Sopranos, because it’s simply a montage of reminiscences from my home state.

EDIT: OK, I found it:

Getting back to the topic, here's what I came up with off the cuff:
Sanford and Son
A-Team
Hill Street Blues
Star Blazers
Land of the Lost (yes, I'm that old)
X-Files
I can't stand nothing dull
I got the high gloss luster
I'll massacre your ass as fast
as Bull offed Custer

I'll add Father Ted to this thread.

I would add the Married... with Children intro to this but, in syndication, the original "Love and Marriage" song is replaced by something else.

The Sopranos
CSI: Miami
Dr. Who but, there are so many intros...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
McGyver
Game of Thrones
"Bible, Wrath of Khan, what's the difference?"
Stan - South Park

Not here it wasn't. We had Love and Marriage, just as you say.

Stingray and Thunderbirds.

Agreed, you can count UFO in on that too. Space 1999 was also great.
