Both Stewart and Jackman retire from X-Men movies

Post by Captain Picard's Hair »

Hugh Jackman departing was already known, but Patrick Stewart evidently decided Logan will be his last appearance as older Prof. X as well.

So according to that it's not just a matter of age, but it also looks promising for the movie coming out next week (next Friday here in the States). It does beg the question of how the part might be recast. McAvoy has done well as younger Xavier but as these movies are set in so many different times there's no telling how old X will need to be shown as in future movies.

Inevitable, but still a shame. Stewart was, is and shall be one of the best casting picks for a role ever. Right up there with Christopher Reeve as Superman.

Boy, to think Hugh Jackman got the role because the original actor, Dougray Scott, had to bow out due to Mission Impossible 2's extended shooting schedule. Dougray Scott was the main bad guy in MI2.
