First reviews of Wonder Woman have come out, based on a recent test screening.

Apparently it seems that they may have saved the movie from being "a mess", and reviews are if not glowing with praise, at least positive.

I gotta say, I hope this does well. If it doesn't Hollywood is likely to take the lesson "Well superhero movies about women just can't work." And I would be displeased with that.

... except, Marvel's got one in pre-pro and one in development (with the lead already cast,) and no failure of a D.C. film is going to derail them... nor, by all appearances, will anything prevent them from being fiscal successes.

This is good news. Never been a Wonder Woman fan but, hoping the movie succeeds financially and critically.

I think it's a bit telling that we are heralding the savior of the DC cinematic universe based on "not as bad as the reviews could have been."

As the quote goes, "Every time Marvel makes a movie, I wonder if this will be the bad one. Every time DC makes a movie, I wonder if this will be the good one."

I get that "it doesn't suck" is hardly glowing praise. But at the same time, "it doesn't suck" is a whole lot better than "it sucks", so yay that.

Well, "it doesn't suck" is better than a sharp stick in the eye, for sure; but "it doesn't suck" isn't nearly enough to get me into a theater when I could be at home, or a decent brewpub, or with a (not so) nice young lady, or a combo of two of those three, or any other situation which I have designed with particular care to be well above the level of "meh."
