Dominion

Post by Mikey »

OK, it seems that just about everything is done or winding up:Black Sails, TURN, Sleepy Hollow, Vikings, and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD are all done for their seasons; Warehouse 13 and Almost Human are done forever, and Penny Dreadful is definitely not living up to the promise of its cast. Dominion begins next week on SyFy, and the trailers don't make it look as bad as Defiance or most other SyFy drek. Anyone heard anything about it, or have any thoughts?

No. Is it about the Exorcist?

Near as I can tell, it's about a war between angels and humanity. Not sure how that comes about, but I'm really hoping SyFy is ready to put something out better than Defiance or Continuum.

Sounds like Supernatural to me.

Again, I'm only going by a trailer - but it seems a lot more action-oriented than the sleuthing/tracking aspect of Supernatural. I found this page with the trailer and some IU info.

To be honest Supernatural is a guilty pleasure for me.

Why is it guilty? I'm not a huge fan, but I find it enjoyable; and I know a number of folks who really like it.

According to wiki, it's a sequel to the movie Legend.

For me, I'm deeply fed up with the constant stream of "after the apocalypse" series that have come out in the last few years. Boring, boring, boring.

I believe you mean the film Legion. Legend was the 1985 fantasy vehicle featuring Tom Cruise and Tim Curry: Image

I don't have any issue with the theme itself; the problem AFAIC is that none of the series in that sub-genre have been done very well.

The show has Anthony Stewart Head, so that gives it some points to begin.

Ah. Legion not Legend. That makes sense. If it were something to do with Legend I'd have given a damn and told the board about it.

Imagine a sword and sorcery series where Tim Curry has plunged the world into eternal darkness, and only Mia Sara riding on a unicorn can save us? Tom Cruise died offscreen.

Ah, I see you've referenced my teen years involving many, many midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Because I am not really into those types of shows. I just happened to get into it because of Smallville.
