Re: Terra Nova
Touche.
Well, I admit I never read ANY work of fiction with an eye toward discovering some conspiratorial trend rather than a simple essay to enjoy a work of fiction. That said, I read Crichton's earlier novels and continued to do so because of one simple fact: I enjoyed to writing. I stopped doing so around Rising Sun or so, so I stopped reading.

Re: Terra Nova
I didn't read them that way myself until Jurassic Park basically threw it in my face.
Have to say, though, despite my disagreement with his philosophy (or what I see as his philosophy), he did a pretty good job as a writer.

Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...

Agreed, up to Disclosure. That was the point where, IMO, he started adding convolutions for tbeir own sake.

Re: Terra Nova
This is... an odd premise for a show.

Of course it is, it's an excuse to throw humans and dinosaurs together.

Re: Terra Nova
Definitely.
Re: Terra Nova
When is this starting? I would love to see it (as long as it is decent).

Re: Terra Nova
I shall do as I always do, set the DVR to record the 1st 4 shows. If it doesn't wow me by then, it's off the queue. I'm even harsher than FOX, but then again, I AM Foxbat, so, there you go...

Re: Terra Nova
Ha! I removed Falling Skies from my queue - and erased the episode I had recorded - 1/3 of the way into watching the pilot.

Re: Terra Nova
Falling Skies needed more flashbacks to the invasion I thought, not just a bunch of survivors talking about how bad it was to each other...

Re: Terra Nova
It also needed less hidebound writing, characters who were people and not just archetypes, and antagonists who didn't need to painfully enslave children in order to generate antipathy.

Re: Terra Nova
Saw the premere. It was... ok. Nothing made me want to cringe (too much), but I wasn't blown away. Except for the nice CGI of the dinosaurs. It was pretty.
