"Sci-fi Science"

Post by Captain Picard's Hair »

This show is just finishing it's first season on the Science channel. It's a show hosted by a physicist/author Michio Kaku (of the City College of the City University of New York), author of "Physics of the Impossible." Almost as in that book, Kaku draws up hypothetical real life plans for "science fiction" tech. He's done the lightsaber, flying saucers, etc.

Anyone else catch it?

I saw a couple of them, I have the light-saber on DVR, and have yet to watch it. I also saw the transporter one, and we're huge data-wise.

What's it about, deconstructing sci-fi devices tropes?

Basically yes, except it's more like constructing them, he's made a theoretically possible device for each one. The transporter the only problem was getting them to appear on the other side.

What gets me is that his transporter is a copier not a Star Trek transporter.

Thats because this is how the current technology works.
