Let's hope they'll do a better job than the 1983 incarnation.

I enjoyed the old one. The effects are rubbish by todays standards but that is the same with all shows 25 odd years apart.

Won't be the same without Michael Ironside but I'm still looking forward to it.

Not sure I like the look of the new ships though. The opening scene of the original series, where we first catch sight of the Mothership, is one of the best UFO scenes in any film or show IMO.

I *loved* the old series. I was the first one in my family to twig that they were doing a sci fi version of the Nazis, complete with an altered swastika for the alien's symbol. I was soooo proud of that!

I'm looking forward to the new one. Fingers crossed that they don't mess it up...

The same. I loved the original. Yeah the effects are cheesy now but show me an effects heavy TV movie from back then that wasn't. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Hopefully they don't try and "update" the "message". If we get some kind of save the environment thing out of this I'll burn someone in effigy. They already fucked up The Day the Earth Stood Still with that kind of thing.

Yeah, I'll be watching this one too. It's not going to be mediocre - it'll either be great or miserable. Chances are greater for the latter if they end up doing like Tyyr mentions.

Ditto. I'm hopping for the best, but expecting the worst.

That's my interpersonal motto, in fact.

I liked the original "V" so much, that when I was playing Star Trek, the role playing game, we incorporated them as baddies.

Something about a bad guy that looks at you as lunch is disturbing.

They look like Phyllis Diller,

I'm not exactly sure that the original message has any real meaning at this point and time. In the eighties there were numerous groups in South America and elsewhere, nominally aligned with us fighting for "freedom". Today we have the Taliban and...AQ, not a real great comparison to draw.

I'd rather they just leave it lie.

I recall reading somewhere that they are updating the motives a little to reflect the current types of threats (terrorism and such) -- --- -- i'm just not sure how
"All this has happened before --"
"But it doesn't have to happen again. Not if we make up our minds to change. Take a different path. Right here, right now."

Come on, Kendall - we both know that "Taliban" is just "mujahaddin" when they're fighting us instead of the Russkies. ;)

I propose we rename them the Talujah then!
